I used cat-specific devices, but friends had a vet that gave them numbers to use human devices (somewhat cheaper). I used generic insulin from Walmart (cheaper than more robust insulin products) and we did well for yrs. Not perfect, but we did Ok. All the cats loved the transition to all meat diet.

practice - test from his ear, give a few units. Adjust if numbers wildly differed. Cisco was totally cooperative because this smart boy TOLD me something was wrong and knew the insulin made him feel better. Keep Karo syrup on hand just in case. Only used it once, because vet gave me bad advice.
