Here's a photo of me about to fall off a roof.

("Roof" is climbing jargon for an overhang that is horizontal.)

Our TV died. My 12 year old daughter and I took it apart, diagnoses it, put it back together and bought a replacement part, waited three days, took it apart again, installed the replacement part, put it back together and it still didn't work, so we poked around with 24v power supply...

"If you're employed right now, you're probably feeling some level of anxiety about how long that's going to last. If you're unemployed or underemployed, you're probably some combination of anger and despair about how hard it is to find stable work."

Looking at the transcript for this AI slop podcast about AI taking everyone's job. If I put this into a song, everyone would I assume I cut it up to make it say these things...

Nine Inch Nails band photos, 2005, taken in a studio in front of a white cyc wall using a low-resolution digital projector for lighting; experimenting with new ways to incorporate the digital glitch art elements of my "With Teeth" album art into the promo photos. 🧡 1/

I had so much fun doing that AI slop video that I was looking through some other AI podcasts to see if I could do another one.

And even when they talk about different things, they are all somehow the same.

I took some episodes of one of those AI slop podcasts, cut them up and turned them into a song. Then I made a video using creatice commons photos of dolls.

I know that everything is awful, but last week my washing machine died. I watched a youtube video, ordered the part and tools, they arrived the next day, and then I fixed my washing machine. Total cost: $40

Today, our TV died. Watched some videos, just ordered the part from ebay....

Toronto gets the film production jobs, we get the series. I'd reverse those, if I could.

Shit, I went tribal pretty quick there

Also, Bruce Springsteen lyrics show up surprisingly often in "How to write" articles. I read one article that pointed out how the opening of Thunder Road is written very much like the descriptions in a screenplay.

This is about non-fiction, but man if these lessons don't apply to fiction...How you frame the important moments is so important. Writing with imagery.

Hm. Can you share a bit of audio?

Going through the basic troubleshooting...

-Have you tried recording with a different program? Different microphone?
-Have you recorded some audio and played it back? Verified that it's a not just a monitoring issue?
-Restarted the computer?

"Something's up with Jack" song is literally about Jack trying to figure out what he wants--the antithesis of Drama.

It's an example of a movie that's carried by the visuals and music, and not the story/characters. Like a Jackie Chan flick, but for goths.

Honestly, that whole script is kinda of a wreck. It hits all the beats of a classical musical, and it hits them so directly they get kinda of stupid. 90s Disney has the good sense to combine the "Our Little Town" and "I wish" songs. Not Nightmare.

Agreed! Although I'd quibble that she has agency--she slips away from her dad, takes risks to save Jack--but the only thing she wants in life is to help Jack, who has no interest in her at all.

Don't listen to music that suits the mood you're in. Listen to music that suits the mood you want to be in.

I remember in the 90s, if you shot a feature film on 35mm, it counted for a lot, even if the film wasn't great. Just getting the cash for that much film was feat of its own.
