On International Workers’ Memorial Day, we remember everyone who has lost their life to work-related illness or injury.

In the UK, 138 people died from fatal workplace injuries last year. Thousands lost their lives to occupational illness.

Safety at work is a right, not a privilege.

Hope

Often something we have to make
Ourselves
In the absence
Of genuine paths of escape
Paths forward
We have to assemble it
Ourselves.

Labour could have repealed the law, but didn't.

There's no chance the PM didn't know these women were being surveiled, or of plans to arrest them.

Highly doubt it was a Met Police idea to target this campaign group.

Government must explain urgently if it was a "mistake" or they are responsible.

It feels so wrong that a Quaker place of worship was raided, it seems indefensible but I guess that is what those laws were brought in to do. Labour should be ashamed they haven't repealed them.

Anyone know how we can take some sort of action against the Met for this? Am at risk of a visit if I get a group together to discuss this?

More than 20 Metropolitan Police officers broke down the front door of a Quaker meeting house to arrest six women who had met to discuss climate change and Gaza.

It is thought to be the first time in the history of the famously pacifist Quakers that police have forced their way into one of their places of worship.

The women, aged between 18 and 38, were sitting in a circle eating hummus and bread sticks on Thursday evening as part of a “welcome meeting” for Youth Demand, which calls itself a non-violent protest group.

I know the right wing media finds it all very difficult so, in an attempt to be helpful, this is what an actual interference with free speech looks like.
