After that, my boss and the building management got together and decided that I was critical personnel and needed to be onsite full regular hours unless I was literally dying Sigh.

My boss dispatched another electrician from our main HQ to resolve the pump trouble, but they were too late and not up to the task. Flooding happened, and it took a few days to sort out what happened.

That lasted about one week. I was called in for a trouble light on a pump controller. I showed up and they were temperature screening at the gate; I scanned 103 when the cutoff was 104. Out of an abundance of caution, it was decided I would leave. IIRC this was before tests, so there was uncertainty

I was doing building maintenance at the time. Most of the office staff and scientists quickly went on WFH, so things would not be apt to break quickly, so they decided to rotate the maintenance workers in and out. I was not directly employed, a contractor, so was asked to be on call.
