Cov Poly 86-89. Some great lecturers. Expanded my brain attempting to understand cultural theory, journalism and the history of press and broadcasting. Watched plenty of films. Grew up a bit which was probably just as important as the rest of it. I think it was Baudrillard who said...*falls over*

Thanks for posting the shows.
Men of Harlech in Bristol. London’s Burning. Not the Strummer/Jones number
Two mugs bought recently (one smashed, which may not be Matt's fault) - love Gail's designs 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Taped from the radio by the sound of it bit still magnificent. So many great sessions and records heard for the first time courtesy of Andy Kershaw. RIP.
I have no jingles. Have you seen the price of them these days?
Much trickier than PPH
On finding an old recorder in the shed: a ramshackle rendition of the fiendishly difficult Pease Pudding Hot, complete with Artie Shaw flourish at the end. Still got it.
This is great. Woodchopper’s Ball may be the best record ever made.
RIP Rupie Edwards. Responsible for the most revolutionary dubwise single to ever make the Top 20. Nobody had heard empty space like that before on a chart hit. Completely confused the audience on TOTP.

I use the phrase "salady bits" quite a lot. I thought it came from Reggie Perrin. Possibly when Jimmy comes round for food. Can anyone confirm? I know we're all busy but...anyway. #saladybits
Hello Tom x
He was. And TC loved him. He was also the man in charge. Of course he was. And that's not a criticism.
Bracing but enjoyable
Late 1950s. There was mutual respect and admiration, even when Humph got a bit Old Etonian/Army Captain.

It's great. So much in there. Enough to fall in love with radio again.
In the lands of the North, where the Black Rocks stand guard against the cold sea, the Men of the Northlands sit by their great log fires and they tell a tale... of a Smallfilms show that gets overlooked a bit. So here's @markauthor.bsky.social on Noggin The Nog.

According to wiki, Macca mistook Graham Nash's "Baby pleaaaaase" (I think) on The Hollies version of "Can't Let Go" for a trumpet. More McCartney brass instrument confusion stories when I find them.
Yes to all 3.
Chip Taylor has left us. He had plenty of stories beyond "Wild Thing" (and "Any Way That You Want Me", "Can't Let Go" etc etc.). Great on air in late GLR/early 6music days. RIP.
Hats off to Terry Cox
Some excellent news.
Strong “Constipation Relief” energy.
Lots of love to you Danny.
Not familiar with Benny's tune. Don't think it made the hus parade. Yes Don and the Skatalites
