Interesting development in the space of laws about age verification in software. Apps and workflows that need age verification should bear the burden of age verification; not the underlying platform.

The post contains the phrase "of soaring rhetoric" 🤣🤦
Of course, this development reminds me of model driven development, secure-by-design, efforts like SeMA (arxiv.org/abs/2001.10052), and Joydeep Mitra (:

Jen Easterly's remark in @wired.com's www.wired.com/story/anthro... is on the mark 🎯 Leaning on Alex Zenla's remark, it may be time to develop and use preventive approaches to apriori eliminate the links that can be strung together into long chain vulnerabilities.

With #AI getting good at #hacking, is it time to start spending more time+resource preventing #vulnerabilities instead of curing them? I think, while getting #security correct (e.g., secure-by-design) can be hard, it may be relatively cheaper and easier than finding+curing vulnerabilities in code.
Please consider adding the following:
1) The average income in 30 years assuming current income growth rate.
2) The average income required in 30 years to live comfortably.

Cancer's tumor eating bacteria 😮 Will we have a cure for cancer in the coming decade or two? 🤞 😎

To me, it is #0: document my findings/knowledge for the future me. Other "purposes" are nice second-order effects.
Agreed :) I think open access helps readers on the fence and readers for whom print copy is expensive. Also, it can help lighten the backpack ;)
Really? In that order?
I suppose the writing style is a reason why I read some books faster than others. Based on what I usually read and how I write, some sentence structures are easier to read and faster to understand than others.

It would be great if the ebook was made available via open access (say, a late draft PDF) 😃

I think we will see a shift IF mobile app development and maintenance is simpler, easier, and more efficient in the Swift ecosystem than in the KMP ecosystem. Of course, a big if. Also, we have to consider the scale of the multiplatform space when measuring the gains.
KMP has got competition 👀 It will be interesting to see how this change will affect mobile app development space and vice versa 🍿

I can't help but wonder "what prompted them to come up with such postulates, conjectures, etc.?" I suppose an ideal situation to say "I'll have whatever they were having." 😀
Recently, I read a post titled "self-cancelling subscription" that was about a buggy subscription system. But, why not make automatic-cancellation a feature? 🤔 For example, Netflix provides an option to automatically cancel/suspend my subscription if I do not use the service for, say, two months.
This six-part post describes typical technical and process rot in orgs when product quality (e.g., security, reliability) and op excellence are incrementally sacrificed in the name of velocity, time-to-market, etc.

🌶️ IIRC "High Output Management" (book) suggests the main purpose of middle managers (MMs) is to facilitate information flow across the company. If it is so at Block, Jack may pull it off in this regard. Also, we will know if and how much MMs at Block were helping with coaching and career dev 👀
When folks and movies suggested that the next big war would be for water, who would have thought it would be for sea water and not for fresh water? 🤦
Interesting development in the Math community. I wonder about the final outcome. Also, how many other academic communities will respond in similar ways to recent events?

So, is now a good time for new companies to break into the computer component market -- processor, memory, storage -- and disrupt any mono/douplies?

@wired.com was a breath of fresh air in 2025. Transparent reporting, level-headed opinions, and pretty good political coverage (for a predominantly tech outlet). None of the I-will-write-cos-I-can crap, e.g., Marc Thiessen 💩 at @washingtonpost.com.

Consequently, working at multiple companies at the same time becomes even more easy, right? 😂
