Hailstone near Hersher, IL. It had been on the ground for 15-20 minutes This storm would go on to produce hail that is now being investigated as the potential higher hailstone recorded in IL history, as well as violent tornadoes.

Had a great chase yesterday. I was amazed at how many storm chasers were out in Illinois. I talked to people who drove up from Arkansas, and saw lots of Oklahoma plates. Every one of these dots is registered in the storm spotter network, which not all chasers are.

No words to describe the experience of seeing an overhead corona aurora at THE SAME TIME as a total lunar eclipse--this happened last night on our aurora workshop. Crazy experience. The aurora was so bright and the snow glowed green under the blood moon.
