So it looks like Captain Jaclyn is nearly caught up on the Babylon 5 Books orders that weren't able to be processed while the system was down for 54 days. So if there are any last minute stragglers out there, now's the time to get in before the door shuts for good.

The Humanity of the Superhuman Some Thoughts on the Current Discussion of Fans and General Audiences for Comic Book Movies and TV Shows

There's been a lot of discussion lately about how one can write comic book TV shows and movies (and other genres) either for the fans, or to appeal to a larger audience. I don't agree with that position, and wrote about it here (free access):

Captain Jaclyn emailed to say the fulfillment site for babylon5books (now closed) was down for 54 days, no email, no nuthin', precluding last minute purchases, but is up now and offering free B5 quote images like this and a chance for those inadvertently shut out.

I swear sometimes I think he has a crystal ball.

Keep in mind this was solicited months ago and likely written months before that. He had no way of knowing what would be going on now.

We made it up. It's what writers do.

Terror is a great motivator.

Just to clarify, after writing half of the first and second seasons, I wrote all of seasons three and four and all but one of season five for a total of 92 episodes out of 110, single credit, no writers room, while also showrunning the series. It's not the entirety, but 92 eps equals 10 seasons now.

The first time I saw this pop up in my feed, a quote followed by my birth year, I checked my pulse three times to make sure I hadn't missed a rather essential announcement.

Hey John, I read the review (for which my thanks) and the memoir. Sorry you endured so much pain. For what it's worth, Harlan never badmouthed you to me, and I'm glad a reconciliation could finally happen. The echoes of our past can take us in terrible directions, I'm glad you found your way back.

No, if anything it could be considered a nod to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. But the story came from Harlan bugging me for four years, "How come you always focus on just the officers? What about the people working down below, just doing their jobs, what do they think? C'mon, man!"

We are not powerless. We have tremendous potential for good or ill. How we choose to use that power is up to us;. . .We’re told every day, “You can’t change the world.” But the world is changing every day. Only question is … who’s doing it? You or somebody else?”
