Thanks, Supreme Court! It's now my right to prevent my kid from learning about Trump. | Opinion Attempts to teach my children anything about Donald Trump place an unconstitutional burden on my First Amendment right to freely exercise my religion.

This is not a bad idea. A new school year is coming up and I have a rising second grader. There is no way I want her to learn that Trump as president represents acceptable, moral behavior.

Agreed. I am really struggling distinguishing one line from the next. And moving the flagged email icon to the end of the line means I no longer register the flags. This new UI is unusable for me.

The DOGE website is hosted on Cloudflare. builtwith.com/doge.gov

It would be interesting to see what would happen if Cloudflare received a whole bunch of abuse complaints about it.

Google maps is no longer allowing reports on this. I recommend the wonderful idea. I saw comments of giving the app one star review.

Texas v. Becerra: What it is and How You Can Help Stop the Attack on Section 504 - DREDF Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund

Section 504 is an important federal law that protects the rights of people with disabilities in programs that receive federal funding.

17 states are suing to end Section 504.

This is wrong. Section 504 is too important.

More info on the lawsuit and what you can do: dredf.org/protect-504/

Option 2: Post on Google Maps community forums. Yes, it will be a duplicate issue. The point is sending a message.

Google Maps just changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico. I say we inundate them with change requests. Here's how:

1. Find GOM on a map and click.
2. Click the share icon.
3. Click Send Product Feedback to report an issue.
4. Write and send.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

Reminder, especially to those in the DMV: a LOT of people are being threatened right now in many ways, but some people are being physically threatened for speaking out. Check in with your people, make sure you have phone numbers cleared to alert your phone at any time if your people need you.

We need to circulate the names of the people working with Elon Musk to take over gov servers. These are just 6 of them. RT until their names are everywhere. This has to stop.

In America, we don’t pledge loyalty under threat of consequence.

The U.S. Department of Labor is organizing a protest. Elon Musk’s staff will be present at the Frances Perkins Building in Washington, D.C., today at 4 p.m. It was mentioned that staff should plan to stay late after the 4 p.m. meeting to assist with setting up Elon Musk staffers into their systems.

Ooh.. that's encouraging. When I think of non-techies, I tend to think of my parents first, who are very wary of most of the web. (Probably because I gave them both stern lectures about internet security.)

Thank you! I appreciate that.

I know this is what torrents are for, but my goal is for the archives to be accessible to the average (non-techy) user.

Are there any sys admins or big data people who would like to help? I am a developer, but mostly focus on front-end to "middle". I need an expert partner if this is going to work.

Scraping has been an issue. I've been using the Wayback Machine Downloader tool (on several recommendations). It's been downloading for 20 hours and is only 11.74% complete.

Part of the issue is the Wayback Machine is relatively slow, so this can't be helped, but this method is not scalable.

On this project, for each site, we need to:

1. Scrape and download the content from the Wayback Machine from a "safe" date. I've been using January 29.
2. Store the data. I'm expecting terrabytes of data.
3. Serve the sites from a host that can handle this amount of data and potential traffic.

Yes. And scraping the massive amount of data on these sites is a slow process. I'm quickly realizing we need more than 1 person on this.

1 year ago 1 0 0 0

I think the biggest thing I need right now is a sys admin who can help me with the more technical aspects of this. I'm more of a front-end person. I'm going to need help with big data issues related to this. (CDC alone is *a lot* of content.)

The Harvard Innovation Lab has a new project where they are scraping and saving federal datasets from data.gov, federal Github repos, and PubMed.

Their blog post says they plan to publicly share the collection they have so far in "the coming weeks".

That’s good to know. I haven’t been on reddit in forever but I will check it out. Thanks!

Also, I am exploring a project to save and possibly mirror these backups (just in case something happens to the Wayback Machine). The more backups the better! We cannot lose this good content.

If feasible, it is not something I can do alone. DM me if you'd like to help!
