I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"

For the "people didn't vote!" crowd, I say this - voter suppression is very real and very effective. Esp. with the cooperation and support of media and social media.

Ford government used the notwithstanding clause to pass a slew of voter suppression legislation.

Let him be known as "King Ford" with his shiny new jet.

The whole "Captain Canada" gig has been proven to be a PR stunt on the taxpayer dime to get re-elected.

Liberals are choosing corporate algorithms over Canadian families.
Yesterday, every party supported our motion to ban surveillance pricing—except Liberals. While they "review" the problem, corporations continue to squeeze family budgets.
Why won't the PM just say YES to a ban? 🛑 #CostOfLiving

I haven't yet heard of a data centre integrating sustainably into any area.

For example, recently a Nevada energy company said it'll stop supplying power to Tahoe because of the energy required by a data centres. Ireland had to put a moratorium on data centres because of energy and water usage.

Critical Atlantic current significantly more likely to collapse than thought Scientists say finding is ‘very concerning’ as collapse would be catastrophic for Europe, Africa and the Americas

Im convinced the psychopaths running the show don’t care if this happens.

If they can amass more wealth & power in the short term, divide us with fear & hate and ensure the poor & marginalized suffer & die first, they likely see that as a win.

This is what we’re up against.

Canadians: While you are cheering on Mark Carney as he expands fossil fuels, may be you could take some time and read this. In the 2026-2027 budget, Environment & Climate Change Canada will have been reduced by 45.4% to pay for military expansion and subsidies to the fossil fuel industry.

To state that Canada has ever pursued anything short of Indigenous annihilation—the year its Indian Act marked 150 years on the books—is colossal ignorance at best, settler colonial propaganda at worst. Kinda both, really.

Canada didn't have anything equivalent to America's 1978 Indian Child Welfare Act until 2020 and it's still weaker than America's framework. That's four decades, two more generations of assimilation of Native children, continuing the project of residential schools in another form.

AI is profoundly unpopular. A recent NBC News poll found that among 18-34 year-olds, AI's net favorability rating is -44. *Negative 44*. Those are basically serial killer numbers. It's not much better among women 18-49. (Men over 50 and upper class are the only ones who like AI, and just barely.)

Carney has announced he’s temporarily dropping the relatively small gas tax. He didn’t need to do that, with Poilievre in a free fall. And all it does is fuel the idea that gas taxes drive gas prices, which they obviously don’t. This was a mistake, similar to letting the carbon tax be reframed.

I don't think it's ethical to build a majority government through floor crossings and I think democracy works better when we have minority governments with opposition MPs working together to best reflect the interests of Canadians who voted them in and scrutinizing legislation
