More people need to read "bullshit jobs" and then get back to me about why I think it's not literally the first sign of trouble that some people ask chatbots to sum up their notifications. The raging desire to see the human work, even in little ways, is strong.

There is an almost masochistic belief among the workers, that work is what makes them free. That they could not derive joy from comfort alone, but must stoically overcome adversity to truly blossom.

I reject this framing.

I am specifically supposing a use case like asking it to explain to you what's wrong with your car like you're 5. You can learn from someone giving you the answers, and LLMs are not exactly limited on training data about cars, but you as the lay person usually aren't a mechanic.

I never said they weren't - I simply object to the framing that asking a chatbot for help can save you the time of sifting through Google search results. It's not perfect of course, and you shouldn't use it for anything too serious, but it's not literally the death of humanity

If I describe a problem to someone and they tell me the solution rather than forcing me to figure it out on my own, have I lost something? Can I not learn from that?

6 hours ago 0 0 0 0

I didn't say that - I simply suggested that if you have a specialist question that is hard to research traditionally and you're a complete outsider, and that question is fairly low-stakes? It's probably fine to use an LLM in a vacuum. Literally slightly more complicated Google.

So does googling some shit remove the busywork of going to the library or taking an apprenticeship? The logical conclusions of these arguments lead you to some pretty ableist places if you think about it.

This is an argument that presupposes that the need to do research is what makes you human, which is on its face, not true.

Did they react this way to GoW Ragnarok? No. Debate over. They're literally just sexist freaks who hate men

This isn't a commentary account but I wanted to note that cops usually don't even respond to calls like this and take a phone call instead. They had multiple agencies involved and halted public transit which is unheard of before this week.

My list of sworn enemies includes whoever designs grocery stores so that I have to reach up on my tip toes to grab basic stuff that is only half way up the shelf. That person hurt me specifically.

does it start and run? I highly doubt the *internal wiring harness* for your car is affected at all by a minor crash like this appears to be. Mechanics will try to take you for a ride sometimes, idk. I'd have to take a look myself without knowing more

tbh, if I lived anywhere near ya, I'd offer to take a look, since the wiring doesn't look too badly fucked, and you'd most likely just need a new headlamp and *maybe* front bumper or fender

I think there is an extent to which dependency is like the #1 factor that leads to me getting abused in relationships and living situations, and that, as a result, I need to be less dependent

And the thing I always notice is - where are the *black* trans men talking about this??? I think the fact it's all white boys experiencing not being seen as perma-victims for once in their lives and getting upset over it says something about who might just need to suck it up and seek therapy.

I have to deal with the fact some men might want to rape me now, and that I look like an easy target - you have to deal with feeling bad because people assume the worst of your intentions at a first glance.

It's always so obviously coming from the privileged trans men too - the ones who "pass"

I think threads from dudes a year in on T who start to pass, saying they wanna detransition because a woman acted obviously afraid of them in public and kept her distance is like...

Dude, welcome to being a man in a society that treats men as dominant and willing to commit acts of violence.

It's because a bunch of stick-up-the-ass feminists who don't get intersectionality think that it makes sense to label a guy being lesser for not being masculine enough as "misogyny" because they're denigrating femininity like maybe misandry is a real thing actually, and we should take it seriously.

Except it's also about environmentalism because it's Miyazaki. It's got a couple of easter-eggs that seem to pin Laputa as a product of the Valley of the Wind.

(To be clear, having your lesbian friend change your oil is also a cis dude-ass experience)

Like the dolls are out here getting into fashion and yaoi and the guys are not out here getting into cars and sports. The boys™️ are not knocking back brewskis to watch the Indy 500. I think that'd be validating as shit personally, but in the mean time, my dyke-ass is changing their oil 😅

Like, trans women I know have been stanning Alysa Liu recently, and trans guys I know are... *stanning Alysa Liu* like guys, do you not aspire to be like, idk, Pedro Pascal??? Why aren't more trans men into like, dude hobbies n shit? Idk.

Kinda treat themselves like women just because they're so used to it. It might bring comfort, but at the expense of authenticity, that comfort is inherently performed and anxious. I don't think I really see a ton of trans guys who identify *with* cis men, if that's what you mean
