I probably shouldn’t be surprised by how good this book is, but I’m truly stunned. Excellently written and, to my own astonishment, a beautiful piece of literature. This might take the place of my favorite book of all time.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.

After finishing Tolkien’s Tree and Leaf, I read the essay by @www.jrrjokien.com about Leaf by Niggle and it was excellent! The essay really opened up the short story and gave a lot of valuable context.
