The case against Palantir: new questions on the science and independence www.bmj.com/content/393/...

Last night, after an hours-long public hearing, Monterey Park became the first city in California to pass an ordinance permanently banning data centers.
The city council voted unanimously to declare data centers a public nuisance, and to "prohibit all data centers within city limits."
My story:
This has to be the end for the #Palantir #FDP

Hey all, it’s publishing day for my book “How to Sell a Genocide,” which is a data-driven account of centrist and liberal media’s role in creating the conditions of mass death in Gaza. 100% of royalties go to @mecaforpeace.bsky.social.

I was lucky enough to see the authors speak when they visited Rotterdam a few weeks ago. This is really important work to understand what is going on right now.
Is forcing dominant websites such as Deutsche Bahn's int.bahn.de to show competitors' trains always a good thing?
It can make things very hard for passengers, here's why...
".. those behind the LabourTogether project wielded significant influence in developing this toxic culture which has been allowed to take hold.. a political culture that.. exists to promote wealth & power.. where proximity to power outweighs principle.."

If the *main political issue* raised by my constituents on the doorstep was the chronic, intolerable traffic congestion on the streets of my inner London seat, I would make it a priority to *learn about the causes of & effective remedies to congestion*
which emphatically do not include road building
A lot of execrable, wilfully ignorant tosh about ‘sustainability’, as if calling for a £1/4 billion road building scheme in Zone 2 is somehow the most ‘sustainable’ way to proceed 🙃
Fleur Anderson MP is still pretending that traffic is up on Putney Bridge because the Hammersmith Bridge closed to motor traffic in 2019. She’s just said “traffic on Putney Bridge increased by 16% between 2020 and 2023”.
Hmm, what was happening in 2020, I forget 🧐

Thank you for this comment @peterstefanovic.bsky.social Care work IS highly skilled, nuanced , bloody hard, work! Its seriously under valued, and taken for granted. Its disgusting how little respect there is for carers of all kinds.
CARE WORK IS HIGHLY SKILLED WORK
and only paid so poorly because of the failure of successive governments to value it properly
The Prime Minister’s plan to offer rapid routes to settlement for those earning six-figure salaries whilst punishing and making lower-paid workers wait appears to be based on the notion that care workers are “low-skilled” because they are low-paid - its an absolute disgrace
