soak and a spritz for Shelley Watters' living sculpture. amazing to see the plants move throughout the days. the work speaks to feminist labour and ecology. love it

good luck. it's a worry

the only positive thing would be if it changed to a 'free the data' scenario in response. better for all (in most cases)

pretty worrying hearing about some of these data sources being shutdown/closed off in US.

feels like they were uplifted into the (proprietary) ML training buckets then closed off at the source. this will be an issue in future, even with advanced search/research algorithms

atm I'm still on tw mostly. it's hard to give up so many yrs of history plus highly curated feeds/lists for one idiot. I don't seem to see the bad posts ppl mention. will try post more here too. am a creature of habit though

the projection is adapted from "pepper's ghost" approach. bit of theatre to reflect the networked performance of the code based drawing & allows the 2.5D (webgl) to be shown as ~3D.

illusion, immersion, immateriality, spectres of the extinct species

opening is this sat 3-5pm - come along!

installed one of my "specture" works, "bilby shimmer" at the gallery for the PROCESS.ED group show at Articulate Project Space in Sydney

explores putting extinct bilbies onto the blockchain. they build new habitats & landscapes in the digital world. we can see their view via the bowl/projection

looking for an auto-followback setting. am way behind, oops

yes. if the machines could work towards finding solutions to pressing problems: climate change, medical research etc, this would be useful. instead, it's likely to end up another spam/advertising funnel. we don't fully understand consciousness, how will the machines

agree. I think AGI is a way off, even with the hype. hope so at least! not sure humanity/society is ready for it in the broader sense. no, haven't read Ned Block

+participating in #genuary this year - a code based generative art drawing (almost) each day in January. posting them on tw & insta mainly + some on rodeo

Slop Infrastructures 1 & 2 "Maybe the Human Part of Human Connection is Overstated." 💡This week, I'm trying something new. Starting today, and ending on Tuesday, I'll be e-mailing smaller sections of a single piece, Slop Infra...

2024 was the year of AI Slop. So this week, I’m writing about what it is, and how it gets made. In part one, I define AI slop as part of an ideology of AI (“who does slop help?”) in part two, we look at its aesthetics — “how does slop mean?” mail.cyberneticforests.com/slop-infrast... #criticalai
