NEW PAPER: looking into the erosion of southern mountain caribou migrations. Over 35 years, migration distances shrank 15-25%, and elevational migrations are collapsing. Habitat loss, not weather, likely the main culprit. A major conservation challenge ahead.

Enjoy it, I did.
1st post, 1st paper of 2025! journals.plos.org/plosone/arti.... Led by MSc Katie Tjaden-McClement with Angela Brennan & Robin Naidoo, we asked whether conservation prioritizations affected placement of new parks. Yes for Last of the Wild but no for Biodiversity Hotspots.
Successfully recollared an important project cougar, female F3 aka βClusterβ. Hopefully two more years of great data to come! #puma #wildlife #wildlifebiologist
