Graph of 2024 Presidential Vote Margin in Congressional District (Harris-Trump) in % vs Human Rights Campaign LGBTQ+ Support for Equality Score for the House of Representatives, with each datapoint marked with the district name
Version with state/district names for markers. It is harder to see the trends, but you can figure out the outliers this way:
So this is the score for the 118, 117, 116th Congress, so there are a combination of trifecta vs split in here, so yeah it's also McCarthy and Pelosi. 119th isn't finished so there isn't a scorecard yet.
They think you're stupid.
Additionally, there is not much difference in the voting of +20 district Dems and +60 district Dems. If we dilute those seats we don't lose much candidate quality, but can push a district from ~0 to +20 to improve candidate quality, or from -20 to ~0 to try to flip a seat (or some combination).
Other important point: there isn't a whole lot of difference between +20 and +60 Dems, we can dilute those districts without worrying too much about the candidates getting worse, and the tradeoff is worth it because the difference between ~0 and +20 is huge.
Yeah lmao that's Manchin, a record worse than any Democrat, but better than any Republican except Collins. And I mean Cuellar does stand out, he's the second worst Democrat behind Don Davis!
Yeah its pretty clear. The more democratic your electorate, the better the representative vote: bsky.app/profile/peng...
Democrats in safer seats more consistently vote for LGBTQ+ equality supporting policy. Democrats in swing seats are unreliable. Making more safe seats would help elect more Democrats who are reliable votes: bsky.app/profile/peng...
In both chambers, Democrats in districts with higher margins vote more consistently for LBGTQ+ equality supporting policy. The worst voting Democrats are those in states/districts that Trump won.
Note, NY,LA,GA,AL,NC use margins in 2020 election because the districts were redrawn inbetween 2022 and 2025 in these states. Margin data from here: www.the-downballot.com/p/the-downba... HRC Score Here: www.hrc.org/resources/co...

This is the relationship between Presidential Vote Margin in a state/district, and the representative's voting history, using Human Rights Campaign's LGBTQ+ Support for Equality Score. Plotted are all elected, and averages when grouped into 5% bins.
Yeah thats what I fucking thought
OH YEAH WERE COOKIN WITH GAS
I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals
The infinitesimal chance of your house blowing up really keeps you on your toes.
I'd mute "infrasound" but I don't think it's necessary
As soon as I get home I am plotting these scores vs Biden vote margin because the idea that bluer elected representatives don't vote for LGBTQ protections is like saying gravity isn't real (I could have sworn I've seen this already but I could not find it) www.hrc.org/resources/co...
It's Calvin's dad:
The classic:
GREEK CAPTAIN OF A PANAMANIAN-FLAGGED MALAYSIAN OIL TANKER EN ROUTE TO AUSTRALIA WITH IRAQI CRUDE: "So is the Strait open or not?"
IRGC COMMANDER, REFRESHING TRUTH SOCIAL: "Look here man, I know just as much as you do, ok?"
I am away from my computer, can someone plot this against Biden vote share? www.hrc.org/resources/co...
Listen I hate Gavin Newsom as much as the next Californian but I need you to look at who signed the bill that made this meaningful action possible (and I don't care about MattyG he doesn't actually make policy! Bluer districts give him less, not more power!) oag.ca.gov/news/press-r...
My personal vibes are that this post is disqualifying.
Does anyone remember the study that was something like "state LGBTQ protections vs Democratic vote share" or something similar, it had a nice scatter plot but I can't find it. It was like this one but better archive.ph/2024.03.12-2...
Do you know how a primary works? Have you not seen Democrats vote out incumbent Democrats in safe seats due to holding views that are no longer aligned with the primary voting base? You are describing a fear that is the opposite of what is being observed.
