The issue with many "cozy" games is they're so vibes-focused, they lose sight of the CONTENT of the media they're emulating. Yes, "The Wind in the Willows" involves sitting around drinking tea, but it also includes such heartwarming episodes as "Mr. Toad steals a car" and "Rat and Mole meet God".

Friends!! I have some time free from next month onwards and would love to do anything from Art Direction to UI art to graphic design to illustration for all your various projects!🎨

You wouldn't make a videogame.
Here's some of the things you can do using light cookies (or masks)! They can be useful for creating flashlights, or window lights - or even water caustics!
Announcing our wonderful winning artist and our 2026 Queensland Games Festival vibe - thank you to @supersheaff.bsky.social for designing this fun and funky look for us! 🧡 🩷 💙
I love this article. It hammers home how simple placeholder art is a part of the iterative development process, and is key to allowing each discipline creative influence.
When devs use AI, they are cutting other artists out of the creative process, often intentionally, and producing worse stories.

if you do have the money tho, maybe get the game on steam? store.steampowered.com/app/2878580/... (it's on sale at the moment)
And leave a review! They mean a lot to us!
Apparently someone has put up a pirated version of Key Fairy?
So, I guess, if you want to play key fairy, but don't have the money, go crazy: filecr.com/pc-games/key...
Summer House is lovely and charming and characterful, but what's actually hooked me id the Random Object Button. It just solves decision paralysis to be able to press a button to get a random tree, or door, or wall, and have to work around it.

a lot of people asked me how i got building relationships onto Summer Game Fest (ie who I knew to land that)
but I just submitted Building Relationships through the form lol

Nom wrote one of the loveliest reviews we have been lucky enough to receive!
Good games journalism, good criticism, is good art.
It can both build upon the meaning and ideas presented in works, and explore further into the unknown.
We are so fortunate to have such amazing journalists in games!
oh, uh, I forgot to say that WizardChess is 50% in the Checkmate Humble Bundle!

ANZ game devs, it's your LAST CHANCE to get your application in for Frosty Games Fest! Form closes tomorrow at 5pm AEST ⏰🍦

The captcha keeps asking me "which of these squares contain political dissidents"???
as i write, i find it very unhelpful to ask myself if something is funny
i think the focus should be on the overlying structure: is there enough context to setup the punchline, is the flow too concise or distracting, and most importantly, can i callback to this bit later in the game
An absolute steal. When I’m prototyping, I grab some Kenney assets before I boot up the editor. Consistent, beautiful placeholder art is good for the soul, and for motivation.
Friendly reminder for game developers based in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand – Frosty Games Fest 2026 applications are OPEN and will close in 1 week on Mar 27! 🍦
If you have an exciting announcement to share with the world in early June, be sure to fill in our application form 🫶
Anyway, I've also been reading "There is no Antimemetics Division", which is excellent! I had to stop reading it at night though cause it's too spooky :(
I've been reading Project Hail Mary, and it's... fine...it's good...
But Andy Weir has this strange habit of finishing half his sentences with "Anyway," and it is very funny to me.
It's all this clever science talk, which crashes into a brick wall when he runs out of things to say. Anyway, I-

Three panel comic. Panel 1: young man in a hoodie looking morose and sitting on a swing set. He says “she’s breaking up with me…” Panel 2: next to him is a glyptodon, an early ancestor of armadillos. With his head in his hands, the young man says “what do I do glyptodon?” Panel 3: the glyptodon says “I’m like an early ancestor of armadillos. The young man angrily replies, “are you even listening man?”
