Manuscript illustration of a dragon being fed a cake. Many more cakes are on a table next to it. The dragon is both pleased and trying to give the impression that it has NEVER HAD TREATS in its life and STARVING.
This 23 April, why not try being kind to your dragon and feeding it treats instead of sticking nasty sharp things into it?
Dragons endorse this message.

Pancreatic cancer mRNA vaccine shows lasting results in an early trial
Scientists caution that more research is needed, but nearly all of the patients who responded to the personalized vaccine are still alive six years later.

Red and yellow streaked tulips are clustered amongst smaller white forget-me-nots with hedges and huge green trees in the background, under a blue sky
A wild cluster of yellow and dark red tulips amongst spindly pink and purple small flowers. An ornate stone carved wall is in the background under the canopy of a green tree and blue sky
The ruins of Nymans under a moody sky surrounded by a wall covered in yellow, white and pink blooms is in the background. In the foreground are a cluster of white, red and pink tulips interspersed with smaller dark pink flowers
How magical are these tulips at Nymans?🌷
This magnificent flower is a sure sign that spring has arrived. What’s more, the wildflowers in and amongst these tulips are a great way of making gardens wildlife friendly. What a brilliant way to support wildlife in your garden and make it look stunning.

A Kingfisher perches on a curved branch above golden water, its bright blue back and orange chest glowing in warm light. The reflection of the curved branch in the water below forms an imperfect circle beneath it, creating a striking moment.
A Little Egret steps delicately through shallow water, its slender black legs and white feathers sharply reflected below.
A Lapwing stands in still, shallow water, its black-and-white plumage and wispy crest clearly visible. Its reflection sits almost perfectly beneath it, doubled in the calm surface with soft reeds around the edges.
We heard today's #BirdOfTheDay theme was #reflection... and couldn't resist joining in with these stunners.

This is One of Those Poems without any Rhymes
This is one of those poems
without any rhymes,
the sort of thing you might read
in the Telegraph or Times Guardian.
For, as proper poets know,
rhyme’s deleterious
and only gets in the way
when you’re trying to be serious profound.
It’s childish and cloying,
simplistic and singsong
to bat rhymes back and forth
like some dull game of ping pong table tennis.
To the literary critic
it will cause great affront,
which will make you resent them
and think them a snob.
This is also one of those poems
which looks like it might go on to say something insightful
about the human condition
but then just kind of ends.
Brian Bilston
Today’s poem is called ‘This is One of Those Poems without any Rhymes’.
