It's not afraid of surprising you and the atmosphere is much eerier, but it comes out in full force during the finale as the rock music switches to more strings and synths, ending on a countdown sequence and an deformed and mutated final boss.
I'd love to see them revisit this version of DMC (2/2)
thus concludes my DMC1 replay, which was a lot faster than I expected it to be! I am still bad at it 5 years later but I'm proud to have never scored a D rank on any mission.
It's really interesting to look at DMC1 through the lense of it being a reworked Resident Evil title. (1/2)

I don't think Devil May Cry 1 is a particularly scary game but there's genuinely very few things in video games I hate playing through more than Mission 13 because it goes from sick as hell 3rd person action to CLAUSTROPHOBIC FIRST PERSON WITH LIMITED MOVEMENT
You know beating Metaphor at nearly 4am reminds me of when I was up until 6/7am trying to beat Persona 4 Golden because the game kept crashing during the cutscene immediately after you beat Izanami 😭 I had to do that fight like 4 times in a row
