#Israel fled from the Philistines and were slain. The #Philistines killed Saul’s three sons. Saul was badly wounded by archers. Saul’s armor-bearer wouldn’t kill him so #Saul committed suicide. His armor-bearer then committed #suicide. The Philistines found and #beheaded Saul. (v1-13)

The Amalekites raided #Ziklag, took spoil and captives, including David’s wives, and burned Ziklag. David inquired of the #LORD, who told David to pursue them and rescue the captives. #David and 400 men struck down the #Amalekites, rescued the captives, and reclaimed the spoil. (v1-31)

#David, his 2 wives, and 600 men fled to the land of the #Philistines to Achish, son of the king of Gath. David asked #Achish for a country town to live in. Achish gave #Ziklag to David. David and his men would make raids and bring back goods to Achish, so Achish trusted David.

Saul again pursued #David. David’s spies found Saul’s camp, so he went and took Saul’s spear and water jar while he slept. David then ascended a hill and called out Abner for not protecting Saul. #Saul recognized David’s voice, blessed David for sparing him again, and departed. (v1-25)

In the wilderness, David’s men cared for Nabal’s livestock. David had them ask Nabal for food, but he refused. #David prepared to attack, but Nabal’s wife, #Abigail, intervened with food and pleas. Afterwards, #God struck down Nabal and David married Abigail. (v2-42)
