Finished making a new Gopher browser for Classic Macintosh systems with Claude Code for this year's Marchintosh.

It's fun seeing how much you can do with limited cpu and memory and still have "modern" things like custom themes. Maybe I should add tabs next...

yes, it powers the CRT too. The analog board still gets power, but the mains input is not connected. I've used the PicoRC on just a bare logic board with a video tap to an rgb2hdmi too.

I've started heavily using Claude Code this week to make a "modern" telnet application for 68k Macintosh systems like the Mac Plus called Flynn.
In the last 24 hours I've gone from nothing to a fully functioning app that runs on my original hardware with System 6.

An isometric diagram of a computer room. Along the left wall, four Magentic Tape Units, and one Sort Collate Unit. In the far corner, two general storage drum cabinets, showing magnetic tape. Along the right wall, one General Storage Control Cabinet, one Arithmetic Cabinet, two Program Control Cabinets. In the near corner, one 90-column card control cabinet. Along the near wall, a 90-column card processor. In the very center, an operat's desk, labeled Console System.
A demonstration of the miniaturization possible with modern technology, the various cabinets of the UNIVAC I demonstrated that it was possible to fit an entire aisle's worth of racks a computer like the Whirlwind I into a single cabinet. (Source.)

@actionretro.bsky.social I think you will appreciate this, a modern(ish) OS running on hardware from around the time when The Getup Kids formed. NetBSD 10.1 on a 486.

In the decade-plus I've been making my weekly videos, Rebecca was the only developer to have jumped into my comments to clear up a point I was unclear aboutโthen she graciously agreed to be on the podcast. I found her to be as generous and kind as she was talented. It's truly tragic that she's gone.

Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. Itโs a reminder that when we come together around strong, forward-looking leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. Weโve still got plenty of work to do, but the future looks a little bit brighter.

I setup a gotek a couple weeks ago in my 486 and it's a dream. Like how I'm back to Sneaker Net, copying files into a floppy image with mcopy on my Linux laptop then pulling the drive an shuffling it to the 486.
