Using case studies of technoscientific globalisation ‘from below’ in Asia, Latin America and Africa, the authors illuminate the creative ways in which non-hegemonic players disrupt technoscientific markets globally.
Paying careful attention to production, extraction, consumption and revaluation practices, the volume demonstrates how sectors ranging from fintech and digital platforms to agriculture and pharmaceuticals are being radically reshaped by interventions from regions and actors often seen as marginal.
This book offers a major intervention in thinking about globalisation and technoscientific innovation, drawing on detailed ethnographies of science and technology from across the Global South.

With powerful case studies from across the Global South - from fintech in India to pharmaceuticals in Brazil - the book examines how technoscientific knowledge, labour and politics move through infrastructures of extraction, circulation, and care.
This collection shifts the lens on technoscientific progress, challenging taken-for-granted assumptions that technological innovation belongs only to the Global North. Offering a postcolonial counterpoint, it centres grassroots, subaltern and locally-grounded technoscientific practices.
