Federal agents arrest firefighters working on WA wildfire Federal agents showed up northeast of Lake Cushman to check identification of crew members fighting Washington's largest active wildfire.

This. This is Trump's America. As he would say, "SAD." www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

President Donald Trump is seated at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, holding a pen and appearing to speak while signing an executive order. Behind him stands a person in a suit. The quote on the image reads: “The Trump administration intends to weaponize science to undermine public health and safety protections… This order could leave the nation less responsive to scientific evidence and more exposed to harmful pollution.” The quote is attributed to Gretchen Goldman, President of the Union of Concerned Scientists. Late last week, President Trump issued an executive order that directs federal agencies to terminate their Scientific Integrity Policies and interfere in science-based decision making.

One NOAA: Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts We're about to learn how much we've depended on the seamless functionality of NOAA.

“Each part of NOAA plays a role in monitoring, understanding, and predicting how the environment in which we live, work, and play is doing, and how it affects each of us.” Dismantling NOAA would be bad for weather forecasting, bad for our economy, and bad for public health.

Maybe if our schools were full of white South Africans, the US could have gun control.

They knew.... Project 2025 was crystal clear. The administration wants to privatize these services and make people pay for use, even though private weather services want no part of prediction - the liability is too massive to take on if they get it wrong.

Weather and climate research funds are being “chainsawed” from NOAA's budget. Last I checked, Louisiana & Florida, which are maximally susceptible to Hurricanes, voted Red in the last General Election.

Wondering if residents there knew in advance this would happen.

BREAKING: Senate Republicans just BLOCKED a resolution to end Trump's tariffs.

Despite how these tariffs are:
- crushing American small businesses,
- will force a massive tax INCREASE on everyone,
- and are pushing the country toward a painful recession.

Today my bill to reauthorize @nwstraits.bsky.social passed through Committee!

NW Straits is close to my heart—they do critical work to protect our marine resources in WA state, which is crucial for our economy and way of life.

I'll keep pushing to get this bill across the finish line.

Our country relies on @noaa.gov for everything from daily forecasts & severe weather warnings to protecting marine habitats.

I toured their Western Regional Center in Seattle and my message to Trump and Elon? Keep your hands OFF NOAA.

Monica Lewinsky doesn't deserve this comparison.

Washington state is the number one apple-producing state in the country & it relies heavily on international trade.

I met with farmers in Yakima to hear firsthand how they need access to global markets to succeed.

Trump’s trade war is all pain and no plan—and it's families and small businesses who are suffering from the rising costs.

Republicans need to join Democrats and reverse these massive taxes on working Americans.

Actually, no. Biden should have elevated competent Democrats throughout his term and practiced democracy through a primary instead of trying to hang on to power.

Just a reminder.... military IDs do cost the taxpayers (you and me). Should taxpayers pay more than we do today to allow Americans to exercise their freedom and responsibility to vote?

Every time you see one of these headlines, remember that Trump/Musk INTENTIONALLY gutted the fed govt agencies -NOAA & NWS- that monitor weather and provide all of the weather data you get on your phone, local forecast, etc. They are making us all less safe.

The Theft, Harm, and Presidential Grift of Privatizing the National Weather Service  Our investment in National Weather Service is repaid many times over in economic benefit.

"The country has invested in, and innovated through, this scientific public service for over a century, not for selling it to the highest bidder, but for the common good. Dismantling NOAA and the National Weather Service is a presidential grift that we must oppose."

I'm writing an article about the recent firings of NOAA workers and would love to hear from people affected, particularly in New York! Please leave me a comment or message if you'd be interested in an interview. #DOGE #NWS #NOAA @standupforscience.bsky.social @nws.noaa.gov @hankgreen.bsky.social

Insight: Trump’s regulatory freeze throws US fishing industry into chaos — Reuters President Donald Trump’s regulatory freeze has injected chaos and uncertainty into a number of lucrative American fisheries, raising the risk of a delayed start to the fishing season for some East Coa...

“The impact on the U.S. fishing fleet, which employs 39,000 commercial fishermen, is one example of how suspending federal government regulations and job cuts can impact broad swathes of the U.S.”

Speaker Johnson lied to the American public and his Senate colleagues. This is not a clean CR. Democrats should not help Republicans tear apart this nation, undermine civil service protections, and degrade public services we all paid for just to give the richest and greediest class another tax cut.
