Screenshot of a media headline saying "Thames Water nationalisation back in play as US partner KKR walks away", over a photo of a Thames Water van.
This is really good news for Thames Water customers.
Predatory KKR was so bad they were nicknamed "Barbarians at the gate" in the US.
It is time the government stopped dithering and took Thames Water into public ownership. It's what 82% of the public wants.
It’s out! I’m deeply proud and grateful for this book — especially for the chance to collaborate with such brilliant & bold minds.
Here’s to hoping its ideas spark fresh conversations and inspire meaningful change in our field. #economics #eurocentrism #decolonisation
Our book is out and available for purchase in the U.K. Writing this book with @cacrisalves.bsky.social @surbhikesar.bsky.social & @ingridhk.bsky.social was a long and arduous process that has arguably changed us all, and we’d be honoured for y’all to read it!
Economics obscures or is oblivious to the politics embedded in theorization itself. In this book, @devikadutt.bsky.social, @cacrisalves.bsky.social, @surbhikesar.bsky.social & @ingridhk.bsky.social return political questions to the heart of economic theorizing.

Our book is now available to order! We will be organising some book talks in the upcoming academic year to discuss these embryonic ideas on decolonising economics.

New article: How is the dominant approach to mining in the Econ discipline Eurocentric? What would an alternative non-Eurocentric framework look like and how does it change our understanding of mining?
Tracing one mine, I try to answer these questions👇🧵

Looking forward to this event today w/ @surbhikesar.bsky.social!
W/ @ingridhk.bsky.social & @devikadutt.bsky.social, Surbhi wrote this amazing piece on AJR's "Nobel" prize & the colonial origins of economics last year. We'll explore its relevance to consulting practices

Looking forward to speaking today on how AJR - & the development theory & practice today - remains firmly w/in Eurocentric tenets.
Based on recent commentary W/ @ingridhk.bsky.social @devikadutt.bsky.social
I’ll be in conversation w/ @rosiecollington.bsky.social, who will speak about the Big Con!

Just seeing the RCT 'scandal' brewing among econs again. This is not a question about some bad apples or some instances of malpractice. The RCT industry has been completely distorted from its inception in Econ and this is closely tied to the incentive structure of the discipline.
Excited to be a part of the discussion of Nick Bernard’s new book: Fictions of Financialization in SOAS tomorrow! Event details: www.soas.ac.uk/about/event/...
We got a new reading group going to also read the new translation! Excited to dig into it

NEON does amazing work getting progressive folks in the new economy space in the media in the UK and they are hiring!
Ceasefire is the bare minimum. Free Palestine 🇵🇸 and hold every war criminal to account.
Spoke to @goldbergradio.bsky.social about the rise in government borrowing costs and what that means! 😊
Look at what was taken in “sweeps” of homeless encampments.

More horror. The moment the 🇮🇱 IDF targeted the tents of displaced families in an area it had labeled as "safe" in the al-Mawasi area of #KhanYounis , southern #Gaza Strip. Over 20 Palestinians have been killed so far, mostly children.

Things always become more clear when reading Marx. Here he argues that bourgeois culture produces its antithesis in the form of anti-industrial romanticism (that doesn't threaten capitalism as it's rooted in a past that never was). An early critique of decolonial theory!
Sharing this starter pack for anyone who hasn't seen it (Palestinian organizations, academics, commentators, journalists)
The first co-hosted event of the newly formed KCL Critical Global Capitalism Studies Collective is now being introduced by @devikadutt.bsky.social! Adam Hanieh launching his new book at the Dept of International Development.
