45 Day - quite a cool idea, but given the brevity of 45s, I think rather than people doing 45 min mixes of 45s, someone should prob do a 45 min mix of 45 sec 45s or, poss, a 45 second (digitally created, I suppose, ho hum) mix of Evil Moisture/Gero/etc trax from 45s www.instagram.com/fortyfiveday...

...Obscure '95 S&Q/Haters Paris vid next...
...Wouldn't have much fancied clearing up after a Costes or GG show...
...The Costes inc Vaudou Blanc, which seemed 2b a messy orgy (his site sez "private crazy party"?!) - if any of em r in public office now, gd compromat. Didnt realise he did qt so many vids. Saw him late 90s, Leeds, blind drunk, dont remember much other than him avin a vid screen w/racey stuff - gd!
...Simon surprisingly didnt annotate his VHSs v well, & Im still tryin 2 locate a few classix viewed @ his, inc The Hunt For the Yorkshire Grimace, the lasses weeing on Brighton seafront, & THAT Temple Ov Psychick Youth vid (actually, I only rlly wanna see the 1st again - video files accepted here!)
Rigged up the VHS to watch some Simon Morris collection stuff this week: so far chomped some Whitehouse, Shimmy Disc, various Costes, PTV acid house period, & now getting dirty with GG. S&Q/The Haters, Stan Brakhage,Buttholes, Dr Devious & Tea Culture yet to come!
It must be hard for poor old Donald, not understanding what NATO is for.
...Milwaukee lowend: these got signed?!...So, not much come out of that, largely the modern equivalent of hairsplitting over whether something is grime, Eski or sublow, but amazing how quick things change &, ironically, regional hip hop continues to be the monolith over 25 years on.
... digicore is just hyperpop with raps...
...Rage seems to be fake-angry trap (as opposed to drill, which I suppose is real-angry trap)...
...I feel like I've heard a bunch of plugg before, just never heard it called that...Kodak Black involvement (why do I always like him despite him doing the same annoying things as all the others & being morally repugnant?), on expensive vinyl but not CD :-/
...And the recent jerk stuff seems unspeakably bad, but the OG west coast stuff seems non-essential but fun, like a heavily Neptunes-influenced dance craze thing...Link seems to be more the vocal pattern than the music maybe?!
...OK, well UK Ug (underground) just seems to be cloud rap meets drill, so forget about that...
I'm now conclusively out of touch! I thought UK Ug was a shoe factory & UK jerk a carnival dish. Recce suggests UK jerk's reviving a 20 yr old US genre I'd not heard of either, + there's apparently plugg, rage, digicore & Milwaukee lowend also. A 5 year lifetime film catchup was too long a break!

For da trainspotters
Picked up, among other things, some cheap Tom Lehrer CDs today, & was singing heartily to old faves in the car. Apparently he died only last year at 97...How did that pass without being commented on a lot? He's an all-timer for me, the snarky ol' kook.
Finally got to the legendary Greg's Greats (Peel's 78 dealer) in Foxton: bustin out, feels like he has every 78 ever, & 1000s affordable, alongside th big hitters. He also put up w/me rummagin his dance band boxes & askin nube Qs. He has a radio show, a Bestival stage, Facebook, eBay: check him out!
I was blissfully unaware of the crap TWELVE MINUTE video for that crap Cyndi Lauper Goonies theme song til just now...
Just spotted Funny Pages of up on Channel 4 free in the UK, if you've not seen it. Not for everyone, but enjoyably grubby recentish film!
I shall now have "Immanuel Kant was a real pissant..." stuck in my head throughout today's 6 hour drive!
I hate how I can't seem to get notifications on here. YES that's the one...I wonder how I got Liszt involved there, must be a false memory based on the obvious rhyme!
Just had to do the age verification face scan to pick up my messages & am a bit disappointed/relieved it didn't guess my age!
Hive mind: watching the whole of Monty Python & have been expecting a song which I now can't even find on Google...It must be Eric Idle surely...About composers, starts "Franz Liszt was often pissed..." ๐ Surely I haven't imagined this!
Music to do with some celebration of Jodrell Bank.
Hannah Peel on the evening news: well deserved.
That 10 year old photographer/voiceover girl who is on the box all the time at the mo clearly either has VERY pushy parents or is completely driven, but is almost uncannily good at communicating for her age - I would imagine she will likely be seen much more in the years ahead.
Watching that Girlbands Forever on the Beeb today - not something I've exactly followed, but interesting stuff, especially on the industry and pre-fame side. Glad they got Vanilla in there briefly! Would have expected 5 mins on Supremes>Bananarama etc, but otherwise well worth a watch.
