On February 14th, 1980 at 5:15am, the membership of Chicago Fire Department Firefighters Union - Local 2 walked out of the firehouses and went on strike.
The last Firefighter Strike in Illinois history played a pivotal role in the fight for collective bargaining rights.
Today, Morton Paramedics Local 4952 welcomed five new members as the Village of Morton hired their first full-time Firefighters in the history of the department.
