When an investigative journalist is accused of espionage in the middle of an election period, I cannot simply remain "neutral" about it.
This raises serious questions about press freedom and political power in Hungary. And yes, EUROPE must hold those in power accountable for this climate.

Hell yeah >:)
🚨🚨Late to this but this is a horrible story of very desperate Hungarian leaders who falsely tries to frame excellent journalist @szabolcspanyi.bsky.social for espionage for his great investigative work against the #Orban government's link with #Kremlin. 🧵

🚨🚨Excellent but grim read from @chrischirp.bsky.social on the impact of the #pandemic in the #UK.
"failing to prepare over the spring and summer of 2020 and then to act quickly as the situation worsened transferred risk and suffering onto hospitals, staff, patients and families".
Dirty tricks from Putin’s playbook
While dropping bombs overseas, threatening allies & foes alike — Trump is mimicking dictators & turning the US capital into his shrine, his own version of North Korea.
”There is no greater tyranny than that which is perpetrated under the shield of the law & in the name of justice.”

But with President Trump, who has so often created uncertain situations for others to deal with while he invariably moves on, his usual streetwise cunning seems to have departed him with the attack on Iran. And so he has created a situation out of which he cannot get. Iran now has nothing to lose with choking the Strait of Hormuz. There is nothing currently which Trump can do with with either bluster or bullying to get the strait re-opened as before. And - as this is a blog about polities - the state in Iran has reconfigured. There has been regime change, but not to the United States’s advantage.

How Trump has created a situation he cannot get out of
The choking of the Strait of Hormuz and an unwanted regime change in Iran mean Trump cannot simply walk away

Further to that, the abandonment of the agreed NHS Pandemic plan before the first wave (Singapore followed it and was spared the deaths), and the order to stop NHS track and trace so BJ’s mates could do it privately on Excel (and fail). Misconduct in public office, or manslaughter, either or both
Unfortunately our 🇬🇧 mainstream media has never reported exactly how catastrophic the UK Covid response was , they’ve allowed/helped Johnson, Sunak and Hancock etc to rewrite history.
@georgemonbiot.bsky.social was spot on.
11th March 2020 is the key date, even Trump stopping mass gatherings then 1/4
These are the methods of the communist era... It will backfire.
excellent decision!
Oct 2020. The Atlantic put its prestige into spreading the idea that children did not catch or spread or get injured from #Covid, publishing articles by the economist author Emily Oster

Bravo 👏👏👏

Johnson and Hancock made terrible mistakes from the start exacerbating the situation, like late locking down. Started long beore. PM Johnson stopped the maintenance of PPE stockpile a few tears previously. His govt had headless chicken syndrome.
I'll have to up my monthly contribution.
Good on 'em. We get enough slop from Maga

new acronym needed - Trump Strategies Usually Backfire.. T-SUB. Pushes UK closer to EU (and makes EU more open to trad deals around the world). Pushes countries into the arms of China.. Makes oil and gas incredibly risky and unpredictable so accelerates moves to decarbonise..
The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Szijjártó, has been in constant contact with his russian counterpart, Lavrov.
Hungary is so compromised the EU isn't sharing documents with them ..
The evidence from Professor Kevin Fong is heartbreaking.

I wrote about the findings from the inquiry about the impact of the pandemic on the NHS, and the mistakes of the first year.
I hope it makes you angry - it should make us all angry.
