I hate the fact that I deem him and his partner “brave” for daring to speak out. God, the very idea. “You’re brave for politely asking a bunch of cunts to stop being cunts.” What a world.

A little grey tabb cat strides purposefully across a garden lawn. She carries a large pink flower in her mouth.

i'm sure your cat is alright too, but mine plucks blooms from the camellia and lays them at my feet

I'd jump on that if I saw it here in That London!

And Toni Arthur came to school (to open a fête or something) and it was the first we'd seen of her new bubble perm (hitherto she'd been known for her silky-straight hippy hair).

I've remembered stuff now. Two of the girls at school were the daughters of a BBC producer - I think on Playscool and/or Playaway. Some of the opening titles of Playaway were filmed in our school playground.

The poor child must have thought her soul would be going into eternal damnation or something. Or at the least that she would get into trouble with her parents.

Ooh, I remember in primary school my friend Mandy was a JW. She sat out assembly, which was a bit odd but *shrug* that was just a Mandy thing. Then a new headmistress decided to impose the law one morning, and I still remember her (50+ years later) dragging poor screaming Mandy into assembly.

The correct bottom 3, IMO, although I did hate the fake foliage ceiling too. #DustTrap #InteriorDesignMasters

Ugh, dried flowers! Horrid at the best of times, and in a beach hut with fairy lights? Hardly practical. #interiordesignmasters

Diwali was big in our suburban west London school in the Bad Old 70s, and there were always alternatives to beef/pork in the school dinners, no-one thought anything of it. Not we kids anyway. Diversity, Equality and Inclusion been going for a good while now.

And I don’t think we can underestimate the pernicious evil of “trans identified person”. The right have *already* started called us “gay identified”. That’s exactly how identities get negated, how rights are lost. They’re playing into the right wing playbook out of sheer, blind hate.

Where is that chasing goose shouting "wasn't Stonewall a bar where there was a trans and lesbian riot by in reaction to a police raid, motherfucker?"

I think, on reflection, one of the things that frightens me most about the world at present is the impoverishment of imagination in political and civic life - the inability to think that we could do things differently, better, and that the rules we made up can be easily unmade again.

I personally would now bet on wearable tech that somehow uses an electromagnetic field or something otherwise clever to disrupt this sort of nonsense. I want an art student to design a bracelet or otherwise lovely thing that projects an image of my choice whenever one of these things looks at me.

We haven't had any for years, but there's been a shake up of HR so they are going to start them again. The best was when my then manager (not the semi-illiterate sociopath I have now) and I went to the park and had an informal chat sitting on a bench with a cup of coffee.

And as I’ve said before, if you disagree with the project of the state of Israel then surely you must be very positive about Jewish people who are making our lives outside Israel.

Netanyahu is deliberately stress-testing that hypothesis and proving it false. Antisemitism does his work for him.

Don't remember that one, will have to look out for it!

I don't see the problem with being at the airport the requisite two hours before (or even more). I'd rather be checked in and have time for looking at the shops/sitting down with a book/having a drink and a snack.

Also, never know if the tube/trains are going to start playing up so I always allow plenty of travel-TO-the-airport time.

That's what we always say in my family (all stressy travellers), "we might as well be waiting in the airport rather than waiting at home".

So stressful (I'd missed the inter-terminal bus and had to run and got shouted at by a security guard); I now know that if I ever book a flight from LHR with a stopover I allow PLENTY of time in between for the inevitable delays.

The only time I nearly missed a flight was flying from Heathrow to Valencia with a stop at Madrid, and the Heathrow leg was hugely delayed and I almost didn't rush at Madrid, but then realised that due to the fiesta in Valencia I might not get a replacement flight. So I RAN!

To be honest, a culture that produces a leader like Trump has no business claiming superiority over *any* other culture.

OK space nerds (inc @virtualastro.bsky.social) the 16yo photographed this from South Notts within the last 30 minutes (approx 2030 local). Anyone know what it is?
