While we are transfixed by the antics of our supposed "leaders", a catastrophe of astonishing proportions has been creeping up on us. Climate scientists now believe it is more likely than not to happen, and soon.

Not working dude, so that’s always my idea of a good day. Drifting and taking photos on my way to see some art. And it’s sunny. Perfection!
Greetings! Wishing you sunshine inside and out!
Ahh, thanks Michael. Very kind of you. Sounds great - very fond of old GP, as you know!
Yes, such a shame!
One day ….
Yes, such a character - truly larger than life. Amazing opportunity to see a proper icon of the art. So glad I went.
Pure delight, wasn’t it? I really luxuriated in them!
Darnation!!
Just me too on this occasion so would have been doubly nice!
And you were in that long Q too? Funny to think we probably saw each other :))
I learnt things! He’s a good teacher. Glad I went too.
I thought that too - and he’d already signed hundreds at this point. I liked that he didn’t get lazy or sloppy!
Yes, an unmissable event. He was fresh, energetic, humble, clever, lovely. Really enjoyed it. Could have listened for hours!
Booked for Thursday! Really looking forward to it.
Then tonight, tube strike or no, a packed hall to listen to superstar photographer Joel Meyerowitz. Proper rock god reception with hundreds of people queuing for the book signing afterwards.
Great day of classy cultural outings, starting with Hurvin Anderson at Tate Britain.
Pulled between the UK and Jamaica and fusing the influences of both, this beautiful show is architectural, lusciously colourful and stunning, with notes of both Hockney and Gursky. Wonderful.
There is a blue hill far away…
That's great!
Scandinavia generally so much more equable and socially advanced!
The concert he really homes in on is quite something isn't it? Watching him completely indulge who and what Elvis is...
I loved the way he moved between songs of the moment too with such ease, working them into each other.
In 2023, I wrote about the influence BIBA had on me as a kid for the Textile Message series from Pieced Work -

Richard Hell - Godlike
Bought this re-issued novel partly out of curiosity/partly bcs I used to have such a massive crush on Richard Hell.
Saw the anarchic format & thought reading would be pure indulgence. But I LOVED it!
For fans of beat poetry & semi-philosophical rumination.
Excellent Part 2 with @collettwriter.bsky.social in this latest Punk Scholars podcast which looks at punk and gender and the recasting of the nihilism associated with punk as a “promising void”. Includes Caroline reading another extract from her forthcoming book

Thanks so much John. You're a champ!
Baz Luhrmann truly loves Elvis Presley & is on a mission to make us see exactly what he sees. Loved his ELVIS movie, which achieved exactly that + now EPIC (based on concert footage + Elvis's own words) is equally brilliant.
Thanks for the tip @demon79.bsky.social !

I am soooo with you! If I had power for a day, my first policy would be to create a multi-layered, long-term solution to homelessness and my second would be to ban private schools...
We had one from France in our teens who moaned that the Yorkshire Dales didn't compare to the Alps - pretty much daily.
Yeah, it's very different. International study years are so the norm now across so many subjects and people just do a year at the Sorbonne or wherever. I wonder whether secondary school placements even happen anymore for languages students?
Good for them. We were absolutely left to our own devices aged 21 - don't think it would happen like that now.
That sounds hideous! I would have hated that. Always loved my own space. I was in Youth Hostel rooms for a while when I first got there, then a luxury apartment that wasn't mine, then a squat. Took me at least two months to get my bedsit!
It was brilliant to know it was one year max too - you just lived so spontaneously.
Good! Much preferred the goth side of things to the anarcho-punk development. A closer relation, for sure!
