Yeah, sorry I have all comments turned off on all posts made from this account (unless its from someone I know personally). It was frustrating me seeing people using these things and doing literally no research into whether or not they were accurate (was not surprised to learn they're inaccurate)

Good news: You can do it yourself. If you zoom in, are there weird artifacts that defy explanation? Has the artist ever shown themselves coloring? Do they ever show progress shots or sketches or lineart versions of their work before it's completed? Use your eyes, use your brain, ditch the tools

I understand wanting to have some surefire way to know if something was made by a person or not, but there's a miserable irony in people turning to an ai tool (that trains on the stuff you feed into it, by the way!) to tell them whether or not something is ai, only for it to be bad at its job

Next I thought maybe it's just unfairly hating on my smiley face, so I drew a heart with a single line - surely it's not going to think there's almost a 1/3rd chance that line is AI-

Yikes! 3 lines drawn in the span of 2 seconds and the "accurate" detector is saying it's likely to contain ai content. At this point I was curious to see just how bad this thing is at its job, so I used some other default photoshop CS6 functions on the smiley to see what happened

"ai image detection" tools are snake oil, and I feel like nobody bothered to scrutinize them.
