Our cat is a crackhead when it comes to cheese.
I was opening a cheddar snack bar at my desk and, *poof*, the cat's standing on my keyboard chewing on the wrapper.

Made the mistake of visiting Variety's website. And it's nigh impossible to use because of all the fuckin ads.
Even with an ad blocker, it had pop ups, auto play video, and lots of other garbage.
Now on the 'never going there again' list.
If you want to see something batshit, check out the anime version - Gankutsuou

It's actually quite good. Just ... not for the photosensitive.
Huh. I'll go look. Thanks for the tip. There was a French movie a couple years back that looked like it was pretty good. And I've been meaning to get it.
There's another count of monte cristo movie?
Today's mood
TBF, i'm somewhat afraid this is an april fools joke.
About frickin time. holy shit.
this movie is almost impossible to get on decent media.
uh. indian joint? that new?
So you end up having to ask WTF they were really saying.
And, I think the answer is "neither of you is being completely truthful."
Back to the unreliable narrator bit - the convo right before this fight is the one that made me go WTF.
The hierodule's "both your claims are valid" comment was weird AF.
Any time a hierodule shows up, they drop bombs, which severian misses every fuckin time.
Four. No, actually, three and a half.
The whetstone (which he gave half of to the green man) is the unsung hero of the whole book. :p
"bathroom crimes" was the name of my album of reel big fish covers.
That's a great mirror. Love the wood on it.
Turned off discover a while ago because it was shit. And now with all the ai stuff, it'll just get worse.
My phone tried to autocorrect that to "get your shoes together"
Tomorrow is the ides of March.
Some people need to get their shit together.
I'm just saying, you got precedent.
Yeah. I may have been that type of guy at one point. hopefully long past.
when kate hits the end, i'm all for talking about all the things. trying desperately not to spoil anything at this point.
also, i have 'castle of the otter' if you haven't read it. (n.b. the 'castle of days' book includes all of CotO + some extra)
right. yeah. i don't think i noticed that til I went back later looking for that sort of thing. it was a little odd, and i moved on. Later, it was "oh shit, i get it"
but I don't think it really jumped out at me til a particular convo before the climax of book 3...
"I *have a perfect memory*"
...
You sure about that, buddy?
TBH, I hadn't even considered that he was unreliable until a second read through. I was also maybe 17 on the first pass, so I was like "yeah, this guy makes total sense and I trust him implicitly."
He grasps so many deep truths ... and then absolutely misses a million other things.
Something I didn't get when I was a young reader, but is somewhat-painfully clear these days.
no spoilers ... so remind me of this when you're into book 4.
also, if you haven't noticed, severian's a little bit of a horn-dog.
It's a small side comment, but makes for a nice contrast against Severian's treatment of Triskele.
Loved the little details like this.
that's my absolute favorite set of books. so extremely dense with world-building detail, and interwoven tales.
i love how everyone reacts to it the same way i did: "wtf is this? this is amazing! why didn't anyone make me read this sooner?"
opened a window for the first time since ... october maybe?
enjoy this 15 minutes of spring while it lasts. it's gone again tomorrow.
@littlefreaklibrary.bsky.social was it you who was considering reading the Bond novels?
fair warning - I'm not 100% sure this site is legit. (as delivery is via google drive) but not a bad price. spotted it while looking for something else.
