It was indeed clear where the US was heading. The world saw, as did many Americans. The Supreme Court not so much.

I hope this goes well. Tenants have far too little power in my city.

Experimenting with anti-democratic measures at the state level was a key strategy for MAGA. Authoritarians want to see how much push back they get and to condition the population to accept erosions of democracy.

Canada's tax system is privileging residential real estate, contributing to productivity and affordability problems.
The FHSA in particular is being used as a wealth sheltering device. It is not making home ownership more affordable.
I live in this hood. I think this missing middle development is great. I'll happily push back against any nimbyism.
But why include one bedrooms? I hope not many.

And one small little reminder: to make good on this pledge, we need to know who really owns things.
If we want to pivot away from the US -- and we do, and I support the PM on this -- that means really understanding where our procurement dollars are going.

I just thanked Claude.ai for an answer and I realize that I'm now part of the problem.
More in Canada, more in democratic partners, less in the US, more impact at scale, more strategic partnership with government -- and better governance to consider threats to Canadian sovereignty as a new geopolitical risk to monitor.
Very insightful.
By electing Trump again, Americans have committed the biggest act of self-sabotage I can think of.
But I am not amongst those who say "they did it to themselves." Many Americans did not do it -- they resisted with courage. And now they -- and people around the world -- suffer.
This is amongst the most important stories in the world -- and I am hopeful we can nudge the world back towards peace, democracy and human rights in a few days.
But it will get ugly. The worst people in the world don't give up power and wealth without inflicting misery on others.
Definitely.
Except for all the people he killed for no reason.
Institutional investors need to organize for a different world. Risk adjusted market returns can be achieved while advancing Canadian sovereignty, long term economic growth, and positive impact in communities.
And the US is the riskiest dumpster fire out there.
Equally astute strategically.

A lot of commentators describe spiritual chametz (leaven) as excessive puffed up pride, BUT--
feminist qs can teach us something else about how chametz can get us all to liberation,
focusing on our pain
how we impact others
and everyone harmed today.
Non-profits are highly constrained from using the equity in their assets to scale and build more housing.
We have a short paper today with some practical ideas on how we can fix this.
More affordable housing though some changes to accounting rules? Yes please!
