Amino Acid Stress Response Genes Contribute to a 25‐Fold Increased Risk of L‐Asparaginase–Induced Hypersensitivity Background L-asparaginase is essential in treating pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) but is limited by hypersensitivity reactions in up to 70% of patients, leading to severe, dose-limitin...

Excited to share our Canada-wide study in Pediatric Blood & Cancer identifying genetic markers predicting severe hypersensitivity reactions to a vital drug in pediatric leukemia—moving closer to safer, personalized treatments. Let’s connect! #PrecisionMedicine #Pharmacogenomics #PediatricCancer

I built an AI Agent called “2nd Reviewer” to automate systematic reviews.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

It is not. Was reclassified to Group 3.

This is coming from my extensive training in epidemiology - where we also acknowledged some of the more aggressive business tactics by Monsanto (now Bayer) to ensure product adoption in lower/middle income countries.

Exposure to Glyphosate-Based Herbicides and Risk for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Meta-Analysis and Supporting Evidence Glyphosate is the most widely used broad-spectrum systemic herbicide in the world. Recent evaluations of the carcinogenic potential of glyphosate-based herbicides (GBHs) by various regional, national,...

Sorry I don’t mean to cause conflict.

Glyphosate has a non-zero risk associated with certain cancer - this review summarizes some of that data. There is a dose-dependent effect, so not likely to impact risk in food supply, but likely for long term exposure pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Glyphosate is a group 2A agent (probably carcinogenic to humans) as classified by IARC.

There is some clinical equipoise there, and certainly a dose dependent relationship with risk, but it is not 0.

Continuation of asparaginase is crucial for survival in pediatric ALL, yet allergies and pancreatitis often lead to its discontinuation. This study highlights the impact on outcomes and underscores the importance of strategies to maintain treatment: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Hey Bluesky! I’m Spenny, a PhD in Medical Genetics where my research focuses on the use of genomic profiles to earlier predict adverse drug outcomes in paediatric cancer patients🧬⚡️

Looking forward to building a great scientific community here - let’s connect! 🚀
