One of the nice things no one tells you about being the parent of a newborn is you will be awake for every sporting event. Doesn’t matter your time zone or the season. You will be up for all of it. Might mess around and look for an NPB game next.

You can’t ask Miguel Amaya to do the job Ian Happ should have done.

Watching Armageddon in the hospital. What an amazingly perfect, awful movie. Perfect for my setting

This guy had his First Communion like two weeks ago and probably didn’t even have a party after as God would want, and he’s going to talk like that to the Chicago Pope?!

I didn’t think it was possible to offend me as a Catholic, but JD Vance trying to lecture the Pope on theology is just breaking my brain.

Javy Baez is probably the greatest slider in MLB history. He’s been like this his whole career. It’s the most exciting part of a game

Even with the out, it kind of feels like this is officially The Nico Hoerner Game

Well, sure, but every baseball fan knows you can’t let the other team score in the half inning right after you score. They really gave up momentum there.

Man, I just looked at the kids club membership through MSU athletics and it kind of sucks. The swag bag, which is all most kids care about, is awful. The lone perk is tickets to events, and to get football tickets you need the upgraded membership. Bad look.

An email responding to a survey reading:
"The entire ABS system should be immediately and permanently scrapped. Instead, employ a 3-dimensional strike zone for every hitter, which is the strike zone the rules of MLB dictate (not the stupid 2-dimensional zone ABS now uses), and let the new system call whether or not every pitch enters the strike zone. That way, every strike will be called a strike, and every ball will be called a ball, as it should be (excepting of course those very limited situations where an actual umpire will have to determine whether there was a swing, a check swing, a hit-by-pitch, etc.). Who can fairly complain if the call is correct EVERY TIME? Players, managers, and fans deserve nothing less, and with present technology, the call can be made immediately on a scoreboard after every pitch. You’d have no delays, and no arguments. Everyone gets rewarded for perfection."

Rahm Emanuel is still using his bullshit "bathroom" line in interviews without getting pushback. He is going to get some headline somewhere about being "The Left's Trump" and I hate this whole series of events.

Just learned (in large part thanks to @bleedcubbieblue.bsky.social ) that the Cubs had a player named Eddie Zambrano, a Venezuelan outfielder, whose nephew went on to have a long MLB career.

That's right, his nephew is Rougned Odor. He has no clear connection at all to the OTHER Zambrano.

Solo Ball
Dub Ball
Trey Ball

The middle child plays baseball instead of basketball.

I just hope one of them reached to the very end of the ship so they can say they were the ones to reach the farthest into space. There has to be one dad (non-gendered anyone can be a dad when it comes to perfect jokes) ready to do the important work.
