Long shot, but I’m going to ask anyway: has anyone got a book of sources concerning the correspondence around MQS’s execution? There’s a photo of a draft letter to Parliament in John Guy’s Elizabeth: the Forgotten Years and it’s distracting me that I can’t fully contextualise it! #HistoryTeacher

@sixteenthcgirl.bsky.social Have you ever done a Not Just the Tudors about the ‘Rough Wooing?’ Amy Blakeway has curated a new exhibition at St Andrews about MQS’s early reign and has also worked on the effect of the RW on Scottish women, and that it’s the wrong thing to call it (more below…)

Trialled this last week and I think there will be a lot of ‘visual mapping’ in the crawl to the finish line. Applicable to all Key Stages, initial connection of knowledge to the icons, push to discuss how they link and then explanation questions to finish. #historyteacher

Okay.. its done. My first proper attempt at writing a historical story to encourage world building and providing a sense of period. Please let me know what you think? What to tweak? Were the Anglo-Saxons doomed to fall? #historyeducation #historyteacher

#historyteacher does anybody have a story on the Vikings I can use or point me in the direction of information I can use to create one. This is aimed at year 7. Want a story to open up my new EQ 'Were the Anglo-Saxons doomed to fall'? @simonbeale.bsky.social @michaeldoron.bsky.social

Margaret Beaufort was brilliant, wasn’t she? Just a powerhouse.

I have been catching up on @nathenamin.bsky.social and @nicolatallis.bsky.social’s course today. I’m teaching Y12 all about her next week! #historyteacher I hope their reaction is better than Y7’s horrified howls (A baby at 13!)

Something that has always concerned me though is that the lower grades of a level 2 qualification does not usually allow students entrance to level 3 A levels (usually STEM and generally for good reason). This has always felt wrong in terms of progression pathways. 2/2

Wrapped another results day as HOD. Very proud of all my students. They did themselves proud. I am already thinking of tweaks and improvement for next year, but that is the nature of the job and for now (today) will just live in the present. #sleptin #missedmyalarm #notreadyforschool #historyteacher

An amazing history festival that i found out about not too long ago. Really enjoyed revisiting old topics, learning new things, and meeting absolutely legends of the discipline. Also gave me an excuse to visit Southwark Cathedral.

Pleased to share some lesson resources on Billy Waters, accessible via the @ageofrevolutions.bsky.social website!

Teaching Billy Waters, an African American sailor come Regency sensation, is a brilliant way to explore themes of agency, race and popular culture.

Have seen the Policy Exchange "Lessons from the Past" report pop up a bit recently (in rel to Curric review & depts looking at their curriculua). Thought it was time I had a look..

Quick ver: some useful but not novel findings in a problematic package full of contradictions. #historyteacher

Exam boards better give students the mark for making the claim that the belief of miasma has continued to the modern period for the 2025/26 exam series
