Mike Pence got totally owned here: Jewish plaintiffs won a ruling against Indiana's abortion ban, using the law he signed 11 years ago as governor to help evangelicals refuse to cater gay weddings and such. Now similar challenges could win in other red states. We tell the story at @forward.com.

And I want to say to the fuckfaces trying to strangle the life out of every queer person in the USA, one of people I love the most had to endure conversion therapy and you didn’t break them. These monsters keep terrorizing but ultimately will lose because they’re trying to imprison the human spirit.
Alexandra Heller-Nicholas makes the world, and especially the world of film criticism, a much better place for us all. If we’re lucky, we can live up to her example.
She needs help right now. So contribute if you can, and either way, spread the word far and wide!
Alex is, quite simply, the best. One of the best to ever do it, as well as unstintingly generous in promoting and making space for other people's work. Her contribution to film culture is incalculable. If you can help in any way, please do.
the process of writing IS writing! that's the job!!
I really don't think it can be understated that, if she sticks to this, it *automatically* changes the way this conversation will be had in 2028.
The Supreme Court did not strike down conversion therapy bans today.
Not nationwide. Not in Colorado. Not anywhere.
Here's what actually happened in Chiles v. Salazar—and why the coverage you're seeing serves the conservative legal movement more than it serves you.
Even the fact they’re taking the case
It's not just about voting. The "Save America " Act is to force states to turn over their voters' private information to the feds. The gov't plays no role in running elections. Elections are run by the states. This is surely an attempt to purge voters before the 2026 mid-terms and 2028.
I’m sick of this shit. The mayor made promises about protecting trans healthcare. He’s not following through so we’re holding him accountable
That doesn’t mean we all wish we voted for Cuomo! This isn’t a fucking cult! The whole point of being progressive is we can push our electeds to do better!
If the Supreme Court votes to repeal birthright citizenship it must be understood as a yet another vote to repeal themselves as justices. A Supreme Court seat doesn’t carry the power to overturn the Constitution. Elected leaders and citizens both must recognize all six of them as illegitimate.
Everyone pony the fuck fpr the librarian who just got sacked for refusing to remove LGBTQ books from the kids' section of the library.
Happy Varang Comes Home Day to all those who celebrate, don't forget to leave out pony tails and flame throwers for Fire Mommy.
so say we all
The whole thing about Democrats searching for a winning message for the midterms is infuriating because it is staring them in the face:
Rule of Law — People who do illegal shit should face consequences.
For insider trading. For illegal wars. For ignoring court orders. For being a pedophile.

starts a brand new war and creates a brand new problem for absolutely no reason, lmfao
yes
There's no going back. Ever.
Even if all of the heinous shit from the past decade could be undone tomorrow, it still wouldn't take away the knowledge of just how selfish & cruel a solid half of the country is. We are all neighbors to quite a lot of terrible people and nothing can change that.
They keep stealing shit from the people they detain. Remember how they took that kid’s cell phone and sold it for cash? Just straight up lawless gangsters
I don't think I've ever seen a government experience this much Finding Out in its first term. It's not just bad decisions plus bad luck, but a very specific kind of decisions where they trade away costs that they could blame on Labour for risks that are squarely blamed on them.
this is what "AI-driven layoffs" are really about, and always has been

I love how the first 3 MISSION: IMPOSSIBLEs were treated more as an anthology, fitting the filmmaker’s style, rather than worrying about a consistent tone.
We got De Palma doing a Hitchcockian Cold War story. We got John Woo doing heroic bloodshed. And we got Abrams doing a comedic ensemble.
