The Indian regime is gleefully mass disenfranchising queer and trans people, cis women, Muslims, Adivasis, Dalits in a state it has consistently been unable to capture. Now their chances are higher than ever.
Larry Fessenden is so good in his HABIT (1996) that it makes my heart ache. "I'm committing suicide on the installment plan."

35mm colour photograph, double exposure. A pine tree is silhouetted against the dark blue green night sky. A light is shining on top the pine tree and the raindrops in the air are illuminated.

Tulip from the Turkish "tülbend" (muslin, turban) and the Persian "dulband" (turban).
Seersucker - anglicised from the Persian "shir o shakar" (milk and sugar). a nod to the textured alternating stripes on the fabric.
So beautiful.
All possible reasons for creating these arbitrary categories instead, are either stupid or evil - when it's not helping anyone be treated as an individual or have an improved quality of life with the support they need.
All autistic people need better supports.
We need to be working on the diagnostic criteria so it expands to include everyone who needs support (that is, everyone who is autistic). And on creating better accommodations.
That's it exactly. So much of this is just bad faith arguments that it makes my head hurt. Especially with the push against self advocacy / the Neuro diversity movement.
Was once asked "you are also safar-ing till Delhi?", by the passenger seated next to me on the train who insisted on talking (despite earphones and book) non stop through the journey.
Sigh. Imposter syndrome and (preemptive) RSD kick your ass in devious, draining ways.

6000-year-old civilization threatened by one cartoon ghoul totally unencumbered by the clang of a conscience, of a soul, for whom Dantean ideas of Hell seem specifically conceived. This disfiguring rage, rotting our kidneys. From the vantage point of my family in Iran's mortal terror, my own disfiguring rage seems comfy, lavish. The compulsion to leverage that delta, between their terror and my rage, into action. But what action? At what point does tithing merely what won't be missed of our resources - cognitive, financial, temporal - become obscene? Two and a half years (and counting) of impenitent autoplay genocide? The world's richest person canceling aid to millions of the world's poorest? Domestic secret police murdering civilians and disappearing people into concentration camps? Literal child sex traffic island? I'm actually asking. May Iran be free from all despite, domestic and foreign. May we all be forgiven. Kaveh Akbar

There is no elegant way to say this—people with living hearts that could fit in my chest want to melt the city where I was born. At his elementary school in an American suburb, a boy’s shirt says: “We Did It To Hiroshima, We Can Do It To Tehran!” ( From The Palace by Kaveh Akbar )

Read to filth by that headline.
A chaotic revision of electoral rolls placed 6 million electors under scrutiny in #WestBengal. 45% of these, rejected in adjudication, will approach appellate tribunals—too late for most of them to vote, writes Kavitha Iyer

Did you see this?
Horrible, intentional way to misdiagnose autistic people (and other inconvenient minorities), strip them of their rights and not allow them to advocate for themselves.

This. And they're barely hiding their intention anymore. The poor science, the absolute stupidity of their claims - it feels like it's just a technicality for them. When it's clear what the end goal is.

#RahulGandhi further alleged that the CEC had not responded to 18 reminder letters sent by the Karnataka CID & the state’s poll panel chief seeking Internet Protocol address, destinations and OTP trails to establish who made the voter deletion requests.

One rich, white, male 'comedian'.
These are lovely! Great compositions. Long exposure is so much fun.
Black and white film photograph. Shadow on a wall of a hand pulling the tilt cord to open the blinds in the room. The wall has three parallel vertical lines on the right. The light filtering through makes a diagonal pattern on the wall.

How much we've lost by allowing genAI (and crap CGI) into these most fundamentally human of pursuits.
The magic Bava made with forced perspective, matte painted backdrops and lighting... ooof.
Love the milk carton skyscrapers. Just so much fun.
Understand a woman?! In this economy?
And how that bias could justify what was often being pushed anyway - a focus on 'looking better' rather than 'feeling' better, especially wrt ND kids.
