on liberty urges us to be able to defend our views against all manner of alternatives, but does not demand we associate with people we think are setting the wrong example

but simply, you do not have an obligation to be chummy with people, to go on their podcast, to pretend you like them

This Bayern Munich Real Madrid game feels like it should be the final. So much quality on the pitch.

Add in JD saying the pope’s gotta be careful with theology.
Clowns.
The pope is literally the voice of GOD in the faith.
Papal Infallibility.
Not that it’s actually true but that’s what Catholics believe.

I learned a few decades ago that the bigger the truck the smaller they are, metaphorically. My nephew who literally drives an 18 wheeler for a beer company (peak macho) when he sees a rolling coal go by he goes: sorry about your small d—k.
He’s got no time for fake machismo.

LeBron just doesn’t understand basketball. Buffet doesn’t really understand how companies work.

I don’t know how they survive. Seagrave alone is a humongous expense that no other L1 team has.

Just read Andy P bio on wiki. Halfway through I’m like, sounds autistic. Little ocd too?

And like, the next paragraph he says he thinks he’s basically AuDHD plus OCD.
Seems like a renaissance man

Sunset over Lake Ontario. At Fort Ontario. Sunsets give me hope. The knowledge such beauty can happen every day, maybe that’s why.

Portsmouth are up 2 nil to Ipswich. Leicester see the relegation happening soon.

I was just singing the almond joy/mounds jingle “sometimes you feel like a nut…” to my kids and they just looked at me.

Omg. Me too. Wandering a library and just imagining reading all the amazing books is like therapy. Just did it last week. It’s like going barefoot on the beach, it rejuvenates me.

Republicans must be kept from power. They are not intellectually equipped to use it. They operate essentially as adult children. Actually, they're far worse. Children at least have a natural curiosity and a desire to learn.

In all seriousness, Swalwell and Gonzales resigning does signal shame does actually work. For the longest time, Washington has been immune to shame and even the most disgraced scandal-ridden politicians don't leave unless they are made to. Shame does work

I went from a church trustee who voted for Romney to being anti org religion & agnostic who is hoping the progressive left takes over this country under Trump 1.0 & 2.0.
So much clarity gained by exposing the utter rottenness of the GOP. It’s not just a rotten core, it’s rotten all the way through.

I think I did the notorious CLM (career limiting move) last week.
On Teams, I’m asking why I can’t see a certain case, where it was assigned to the wrong person & they gave some BS answer, like “it’s complicated.” I literally said, “No! I don’t accept that answer.” Boss goes silent.
I hate big biz

It’s almost like Reagan is to blame for all of this. Govt is the problem when it wasn’t.

Viktor Orbán created the global blueprint for authoritarian populism and became a MAGA hero. Today, Hungarian voters sent him packing after 16 years in power.

There is nothing inevitable about these guys. Organize. Vote. Fight back. It works.

I would just like to say for the record that I too am, “weak on crime.”

I used to be very into my Catholic faith. Until the priest did a homily straight out of Fox News and a loved one came out as pan. I realized then that there was no home for me there. Leo is going to cause a lot of lapsed Catholics (not me, lol) to reconsider.

From EARTHSEED: THE BOOKS OF THE LIVING

Choose your leaders

with wisdom and forethought.

To be led by a coward

is to be controlled

by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool

is to be led

by the opportunists

who control the fool.

To be led by a thief

is to offer up

your most precious treasures

to be stolen.
To be led by a liar

is to ask

to be told lies.

To be led by a tyrant

is to sell yourself

and those you love

into slavery.

Picture of two bridges on two paths. Reminds me of Robert Frost’s famous poem.

Picture of two bridges on two paths. Reminds me of Robert Frost’s famous poem.

The Road Nor Taken. By Robert Frost.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Went for a hike today. Came upon a decision early.

Thought a lot about this poem during my hike in the woods.

My Filipino neighbors are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. When my daughter graduated their present was to come over & decorate our party tent; it was so beautiful & took a load off our shoulders. I am grateful for them, not wishing they weren’t next to me.
Dude is clueless. Is he maga?

I am kind of getting the feeling there’s been some simmering hostility against the U.S. in a lot of countries for a long long time. We just had better manners.

It was, oh yeah Uncle Sam is kind of an arrogant jerk, but he likes dogs and gave my kid some candy. So, he can still come over for dinner.

A pretty sunset tonight. I like to think of the young tree here being the hope for our future. The new growth of hopeful progressivism, as the sun sets on this era of reactionary division, despair and anger.
