Wild seeing 26 ads from a Facebook page with 4 followers and no posts!
Looks like it!
And you can see all of Bhen's Meta ads here: www.facebook.com/ads/library/...
NZ Green candidate for Northcote, Bhen Goodsir has run 26 ads on Meta over the last month, but seems to be far more interested in spending his money on targeting Green Party members than on the voters of Northcote! #nzpol
I've also finally got around to fixing a bug with the graph on the poll graph and preferred PM poll graph, so the "Last Year" button now works properly, just adjusting the data to show the data for the last 12 months.
I've uploaded the latest Roy Morgan poll to The Progress Report database so you can see who would get elected on those numbers (spoiler: not many Nats). #nzpol theprogressreport.co.nz/poll-graph/
Sorry, but what's the problem with it? As far as I was aware NZ has no rules about election advertising. Or is this a local bylaw?
In light of the news that Ngaro will be standing for NZ First at this years election, I'm taking this 2023 article out from behind the paywall.
Ngaro previously led the Christian Nationalist Party 'NewZeal' after leaving National

"However, it didn’t quite go to plan with some in the audience unaware who he was and Ngaro had to introduce himself following his short speech, after someone called out: “Who are you?”" lol #nzpol www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/...
If any TOP fans out there want to help get their candidates out there, feel free to go to their profiles on The Progress Report and use the Suggest Details button to submit links to their social media profiles etc.
If I were them I'd be hugely worried about their lack of experience. Having former Labour MP @ilg.bsky.social as campaign manager is the one saving grace, but even his deep political background might not be enough to carry a group of untested candidates over the 5% line.
Sarah Lucas is the only person on their list who I can find a record of actually winning an election: she won a seat on the Inglewood Community Board in 2022, but failed in her bid for the Kōhanga Moa General Ward and Mayoralty of New Plymouth Council in 2025.
Of their 26 candidates, only 6 have ever stood for office before: Ben Wylie-Van Eerd, Almo Wong, Naomi Pocock, Derrick Paull, Jessica Hammond and Sarah Lucas.
Their 2023 Auckland Central candidate, Damian Sycamore, was elected as an independent to the Waiheke Local Board at last year's election. theprogressreport.co.nz/candidates/1...
First thing that jumped out was that they don't yet have a candidate for Auckland Central, one of their 5 target seats (the others are Mt Albert, Wellington North, Wellington Bays, Epsom and Kaipara ki Mahurangi). Their new deputy leader Daniel Eb is standing in Kaipara ki Mahurangi.
Yesterday The Opportunity Party released their first 26 electorate candidates - I've uploaded them all to my database which you can check out here: theprogressreport.co.nz/politician-l... #nzpol
lol
I've updated the Labour Party list in my database to be in line with their new caucus rankings, so the results of the MMP and Labour Caucus calculators will reflect the latest rankings. #nzpol
And you can also use my Green Caucus Calculator to easily figure out which of them would be in if they win or lose particular electorate seats. theprogressreport.co.nz/green_caucus...
I've updated my database with the preliminary party list the Greens released yesterday - so for example you can use my MMP Calculator to see which of their list candidates would get into Parliament with any particular level of support. theprogressreport.co.nz/mmp-calculat... #nzpol
Retiring Labour MP Peeni Henare on who's the most promising backbencher: "Oh, I think there are several, but I’m going to back Arena Williams. I think Arena is smart, wāhine Māori, she’s got huge appeal and I think she is a future star." #nzpol
The poll is a 7.5% swing from the election. Assuming a uniform swing at that level Labour would pick up Banks Peninsula, Hutt South, Mt Roskill, Wairarapa, Waitakere, Wellington Bays, West Coast-Tasman and probably a few of the Māori seats (those are much harder to predict on this basis).
I've uploaded the Taxpayer's Union-Curia poll to The Progress Report, so you can use our tools to see exactly who would get elected to Parliament. theprogressreport.co.nz/mmp-calculat... #nzpol
Really good discussion here about the upcoming South Australian election - particularly about some of the consequences on the total ban on political donations and how that's shaping the campaign. youtu.be/I5RSVSygnJs?...
Look I know this is very niche, but a newly elected local board member is proposing devolving their funding and projects even further. Lower than a local board. Which just seems nuts. #nzpol www.nzherald.co.nz/rotorua-dail...
