I’m assuming he’s toast sooner or later, and I guess that’s not a given for some people.

I want it over not just because I’ve had enough of him but because I’m frustrated that the opportunity for his successor to actually do something coherent and credible is shrinking, if indeed it is possible at all.

Wait. Did I miss the point?

X axis: secondary school year group
Y axis: number of after school clubs attended including revision sessions.

X axis: age, discrete
Y axis: number of externally awarded exam passes eg KS2, GCSE’s, music qualifications etc in England

You can delegate what you like, but make sure you trust those you delegate to and check on what is important, because if you're the boss the one thing you can't delegate is accountability.

There is not a thing in education that some people won’t claim as their expertise regardless of what they stood for when they were running mediocre schools.

Yes exactly.

So one thing that is helpful added to it is welcome.

I didn’t say necessary. I said it makes things easier.

Tbh I left the Labour Party over the schools bill because it will mean I can’t run my schools (inc one of the top fifty and the most improved in the country last year) as we do because there is so much that is actively unhelpful in there.

Any lack of clarity is a hole school leaders have to manage.

Can you? Tell me more about your experience of this.

It makes it easier with difficult parents and implementation is hence easier. Makes school leaders and teachers lives much easier and removes ambiguity and argument.

It was just eight years ago I was on the front page of the local paper after banning phones.

I nearly resigned.

Very pleased to see phones in school will now be banned by law.

This creates a very clear position from which schools can discuss this issue with parents, lessening any potential diminishing of relationship between school and home.

I disagree with this.

I’ll keep it. But thanks - I think that one is easy to get hold of so should be available online on Monday night.

Actually, @catherinelock.bsky.social might be up for a day in Stowmarket. Though her presence would mean having to purchase much less.
