We import such a high proportion of our goods we should be looking at global prices rather than UK specifics as drivers to UK inflation expectations. Chinese economy will probably be a bigger driver of uk inflation than UK demand.
The problem with assuming that a fall in demand from UK consumers is deflationary is the assumption that we make our own goods so those prices can fall. We have a government that makes it very hard to lower employment costs and the price of the basic raw material, energy, is unlikely to fall.
I can't see what the issue is.
Denmark should simply hand Greenland to the USA, as the USA is closer and they've asked nicely, along with an extra €10 billion to keep the USA happy, following Britain's marvellous example with the Chagos islands.
Track record of being right trumps constantly pushing forward idealistic theory and blaming others for your failures.
