We could be providing universal healthcare, student aid, a universal basic income, but no... We have to cut everything to pay for Trump's stupid oil war.

Isn't it a bit more than that? Like, it embodies his usual negotiation tactic of bark loudly, threaten retribution, then go belly up and fold because it spectacularly backfires? Look at all the recent new tariff threats & backhanded insults at countries like the UK which he quietly walked back from.
The sheer hypocrisy of Lord Toby Young‘s FSU. Kudos to Democracy For Sale for finding out anyway.
@manchestermill.bsky.social you sure about those numbers? 32 million flights in 2025 is effectively 2,666,666 flights a month. Their presser says 32 million *passengers* ;) mediacentre.manchesterairport.co.uk/manchester-a...

Epstein survivor Marijke Chartouni reacts to Donald Trump's latest post about Jeffrey Epstein: "Every accusation is a confession. Cheers. 🥂"

This is what's known as "consciousness of guilt"
Donald Trump wishes Merry Christmas to himself:
The Epstein Files, everybody!
The White House has been caught.
The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.
In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.
How Russia keeps raising an army to replace its dead.

The 81-year-old, second-richest man on earth, calls up president directly and demands that he be allowed to use $100 billion including capital from world’s most repressive regimes and Trump’s son-in-law to conquer a massive entertainment and news complex to preserve “competition“

@robbotron.bsky.social discussing last night's show with mates, we idly joked we should bundle one of them to a show at night for funsies - to which he mused, "Falling asleep in your own bed and waking up during the intro of the dark room would be genuinely terrifying"

I Want You to Understand Chicago Politics Chicago 2025-11-08 I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time. Every day my phone buzzes. It is a neighborhood group: four people were kidnapped at the corner drugstore. A friend a mile away sends a Slack message: she was at the scene when masked men assaulted and abducted two people on the street. A plumber working on my pipes is distraught, and I find out that two of his employees were kidnapped that morning. A week later it happens again. An email arrives. Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleagues’ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next. Understand what it is to pray in Chicago. On September 19th, Reverend David Black, lead pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, was praying outside the ICE detention center in Broadview when a DHS agent shot him in the head with pepper balls. Pepper balls are never supposed to be fired at the head because they can seriously injure, or even kill. “We could hear them laughing as they were shooting us from the roof,” Black recalled. He is not the only member of the clergy ICE has assaulted. Methodist pastor Hannah Kardon was violently arrested on October 17th, and Baptist pastor Michael Woolf was shot with pepper balls on November 1st. Understand what it is to sleep in Chicago. On the night of September 30th, federal agents rappelled from a Black Hawk helicopter to execute a raid on an apartment building on the South Sho…
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.
He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.
In under 1600 words.

Ah, you found some two stroke fuel for it?
This deceptively-simply titled video is two hours (!!) of tense, edge-of-your-seat viewing - accompanied by beautifully detailed animations, actual comms audio between NASA and Apollo 13 crew and other footage/docs I'd never seen before. Exceptional work. youtu.be/uCObwsXbSeU?... #space #astronomy
What was extra annoying about today's email was that it implied people had previously been notified about the breach in June. Bectu members, to best of my knowledge, were not contacted AT ALL at the time - first notification was today. There was only a quietly published article on the Prospect site.
You *should* have received an email already on Friday morning from "Prospect union <hello@mail.prospect.org.uk>" with the subject "Important information about your data". A lot of people probably overlooked or missed it because it appears fairly generic in its subject. tldr, it's pretty bad.
This impacts around 150k people. Importantly - confidential equality data including protected characteristics, including trans people's identities, were breached in June. Members of this union and Prospect Union were told today, almost 4 months later. The Information Commissioner's Office ..

Is any journalist at Conservative conference going to ask Robert Jenrick where he got his new "Let's take our country back," slogan from?
Goody-bag merch from Tory Conference branded "When Labour negotiates Britian loses" and signed "Kemi Badenoch".
It helps to be able to spell the country you say only you are competent enough to run.
Now we're cooking! This is the sort of recovery quality I wanted to see from these recordings 😀
Hello from Washington DC, where hundreds of people and what seems like an unreasonable amount of police are assembling for the We Are All DC March
This is the first pre-planned, DC-focused protest since the occupation began. Let's see how this goes
🧵
The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.
