she's not actually denouncing any of her harmful views though, she's just apologizing for siding with the rest of the crowd that supports those harmful views because they disrespect her, while making pretty clear she still holds them. she's apologizing that she can't have her cake and eat it too.

it's largely the fault of the MPAA/ESRB (and the puritanical freaks that motivate them). lots of youth books have significantly more mature themes that, if adapted to film/tv/games without toning the content down, would place them an age rating or two above the original target audience.

a large amount of liberals will treat the disposal of trump as a major victory and return to normal, especially with the media saying "at least the country's run by somebody who doesn't have dementia now!", and the descent into fascism will accelerate with less spectacle and further silence.

i think the people running the show believe they have reached a point where they have consolidated enough power that trump has outlived his usefulness and is only a hindrance to their further efforts. trump will be gone, the media will fall in line and say the vance admin should be given a chance.
