Aerial view of the Radcliffe Camera in Oxford with a freshly mown lawn featuring intricate curved stripe patterns around the circular building.
Ground-level view of striped grass patterns on the lawn beside the Radcliffe Camera, showing alternating light and dark green lines stretching across the grass.
A lawn mower on the striped grass outside the Radcliffe Camera, highlighting the precision-cut pattern with people and historic college buildings in the background.
The lawn outside the Radcliffe Camera had a trim today 🌱
No, it’s not AI.

#SukhoiSundays and I’m not convinced the two Iranian wrecks in the central photo are Su-24s at all. Perhaps the burnt wreck in the left photo was once a Fencer? Ah well

Listening in the car to BBC Radio’s 1981 adaptation of The Lord of the Rings (which means the Earith Bridge road diversion has its upside, after all). Ian Holm, Michael Hordern, Bill Nighy, John Le Mesurier, Peter Warner. Absolutely bloody fantastic

Earith Bridge is underwater. This means nothing to almost anyone, but to me it means a 20 mile detour on the way to work and another 20 miles back again; and the fact that it is underwater is entirely due to decisions made in the 17th century

"…the major enemy, the strategic adversary is fascism [...] the fascism in us all, in our heads and in our everyday behaviour, the fascism that causes us to love power, to desire the very thing that dominates and exploits us.

#nowreading the most recent edition of the National Gallery’s companion guide, originally written by Erika Langmuir yonks ago. I love it, but I’ve had to create my own index so that I can read it in actual chronological order. Because history.

Tupolev’s Project Zveno. What are those things with propellors that are slung under the wings? - that’s right! - little piggyback fighter planes that could be launched when the mothership bomber was in flight. Reposting for #TupolevTuesdays

#nowlistening Kate Bush’s 50 words for snow. Ten years ago I started to play this CD then gave up after two songs. Rubbish! Now a decade has passed. Played the CD on a whim over the weekend and discovered that I love it to bits

Nose on Grids...
56103 and 56045 thunder along the Great Western Main Line on their way to Merehead Quarry.
I do believe this is the last bastion of Grid working, as both the Grids work out of Willesden Sidings to the quarries down south.
