Unprecedented crazy times, eh.

Maybe Vance-ing. I am sure there are other people who do that but Vance seems to have crossed all the lines.
A reminder that the women of the Iranian national soccer team were forced to return to Iran. They did not leave Australia voluntarily!
The fact that Iran is currently being illegally bombed by the U.S. does not, in any way, shape or form, make its regime less authoritarian, brutal, and misogynist!
You're touching on another point which needs some thinking. Maybe, some aspects of the project/logistics weren't really "understood" because of culturalexpectations.Italy functions very different for bureaucracy, connections,"doing" things.I tried to give them what they wanted but it's more complex.
thanks <3. yes, that's the disappointing part. Now, I have to contact all the people who were happy to get involved and share the news. I was very reluctant to involve many people in my first application, it wasn't a lack of planning/engaging as they might have thought, it was just to be efficient.
I put a lot of work in between the two rounds to involve key stakeholders that I was told were missing from the first form. I won't give up, the project is just delayed; I feel it is kind of ironic that the two rejections are so opposite to each other. It's more c'est l'academie than c'est la vie!
I applied for some funding for a project that I am really keen on doing (in my hometown in italy and to counteract the anti-gender politics of the government). First round: rejected for not being too ambitious, second round: rejected for being too aspirational. It's very disappointing!
More than surreal. I can't believe (well, i kind of can) what we are witnessing.
See you there on Friday!
One week to our yearly event! If you haven't joined yet, there is still time to register! See link below.
It's a good day in Italy. Meloni said she'll go ahead with working for the nation, while we hope for a change.
The University of Essex has proposed to discontinue most of their undergraduate language provisions as well as the Languages for All programme as part of large-scale restructuring.

I have the sun-FOMO (did we need a new term? no!), I really wanted to enjoy more of the good weather but some urgent work things kept me in the flat the whole day, today. I now found out that the sun is here to stay for some extra days, my sun-fomo is taking a step back and i can plan some walks!
Finally, a long sunny day here in Brighton. We needed it. Rain tomorrow ๐คฃ
We are delighted to announce this year's winner of the Judith Baxter Award. Congratulations, @peterbrowning.bsky.social. Join us in Southampton (on 10 April) to hear more about Peter's research. See info to register.
Despite the #ceasefire agreement, we continue to see attacks throughout the #GazaStrip. More than 618 Palestinians have been killed in #Gaza by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire.
There is no safety in Gaza, where the humanitarian situation remains catastrophic.
๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ i'll save a copy too!
Nigel Farage lied multiple times at his press conference today - including saying no-one who voted Green in Gorton and Denton has a job and he's "certain" Reform won most British born voters in the by-election, based on zero evidence, and yet not a single journalist there pushed back on them
Quindi ministro Tajani. I suoi omologhi di Francia, Germania e Gran Bretagna sapevano dell'attaco all'Iran e lei era all'oscuro. Inoltre ignorava che, in piena crisi internazionale, il suo collega alla Difesa Crosetto fosse all'estero. Pronto, Farnesina? C'รจ nessuno lรฌ?
Still time to apply! ๐โจ

Another example of the Italian Constitution saving the day. She may well have signed up as a full member otherwise. A strong constitution helps to stop or slow the slide to fascism, especially if it was written with that specific aim in mind.
With more than 80 participants already registered, there is still a bit of time to sign up to join us on Wed for an event on publishing in language, gender and sexuality. @lucyjones.bsky.social and @lexiwebster.bsky.social will help us navigate the publishing process. There'll be time for questions
Genuinely, if you live in the UK you should so the consultation just to find out some of the unbelievable details of what's being proposed. Even with their spin and obfuscation it's shocking
In a 2022 paper, Mandie Iveson and myself explored how discourses were trascending the manosphere, and were spread in mainstream "commentaries" of the world. Our work might be nowadays a bit old, considering how far this all seems to be going. ๐ฌ
