Prism on an iPad! That takes me back.
How do you fix a situation where a corrupt president can have his allies make bogus lawsuits against our own government, and then direct his corrupted "Justice Department" to settle and shell out taxpayer money to his corrupt friends?
We need to start thinking about writing laws around this *now*.
The is the federal government telling news stations to provide favorable coverage of the war or their licenses will be pulled.
A truly extraordinary moment.
We aren't on the verge of a totalitarian takeover. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.
Act like it.
You know that company loved how much the parts look like Vader's helmet when arranged this way.
Ah, so it is! Didn't even zoom in enough to see that
Is that an exploded view of a Juicero?
Exactly right.
Bovino's leaving? Great, get Noem to resign.
Noem resigns? Great, defund and dismantle ICE.
Go after Stephen Miller too. Bring charges against ICE thugs at the state and local level. Lawsuits. New state laws restricting them.
Every possible angle.
Wow. "Republican Chris Madel made a stunning exit from the Minnesota governor’s race on Jan. 26, saying he cannot support the national GOP’s “stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.”
Since July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process.
This is one that stands out:

You have to read this. Firsthand affidavit from one of the women who was there and recording the video. She talks about how Alex Pretti was directing traffic when she arrived. She watched him be killed in front of her. She's afraid to go home, worried she'll be arrested.
Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti “We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.
"Please get the truth out about our son."
Nearly 60 yards in the air. In that wind. Walkoff. Holy sh*t. Bears-Packers, we are so back.
Reminded me that I missed RAM prices skyrocketing just as GPU prices came down. This March I built a new PC for the first time in... jeez, eight years??? And apparently RAM is up like 3x since then. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025...

We adopted our first cat from Alameda Animal Shelter 13 years ago, and it’s a great place. This sweet kitty looks like she’s ready to give you as many quests as you want. Think of it: unlimited quests!
Did you get to the Snocaps album yet this week? Man, is Katie Crutchfield on a heater...
Saint Cloud -> Plains -> Tigers Blood -> Snocaps is a pretty great couple albums with side projects in between.
We are seeing not just a merging of different parts of the armed forces; we are also seeing a deprofessionalization. Competent people are fired. Those willing to break the law are hired. Normal practices are abandoned as the new force becomes more responsive to the demand for quotas & brutalization.

The show will debut on Saturday, October 25th.
"I have a decent fluency in LLMs, and they have utility, but the absurd degree of over-hype, the way they're being forced on everyone, and the insistence on ignoring the many valid critiques about them make it very difficult to focus on legitimate uses where they might add value."
Bridging my current life in Chicago and my past life in D.C., I argue today at @newrepublic.com that Democrats should ~never~ vote to fund this government. Make John Thune blow up Senate rules and Republicans wholly own the U.S. extra-military military doing war crimes against us, funded by us.
The studio version is fascinating to me, in that it was always clear that "it's visceral" was a line you were going to hold on to when you play it live. Interesting that it's not on the album version. (And, btw, who else is capable of making "visceral" the focal point of a song's climax?)
The Tiny Desk version is pretty great as well. Always interesting to look at beginning vs. end of tour performances... www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps1f...
"If we want different results, we have to abandon standard practice."
YES.
Finally, someone put together what I and many other critics have been saying about political coverage — then took it further. reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/harm-reducti...
Author Michael Hauser Tov is 28 years old.
Rodrick Johnson, 67, is one of many residents who were detained by federal agents during the South Shore raid. A U.S. citizen, he said agents broke through his door and dragged him out in zip ties. Johnson said he was left tied up outside the building for nearly three hours before agents finally let him go. “I asked [agents] why they were holding me if I was an American citizen, and they said I had to wait until they looked me up,” Jones said. “I asked if they had a warrant, and I asked for a lawyer. They never brought one.”
What DHS pulled in Chicago on Tuesday is wildly unconstitutional. They smashed down almost every door in the building, dragged entire families into the street, and detained people for hours ("Kavanaugh stops").
Ms. Fisher was held for five hours and another senior citizen was held for three hours.
Charles Tillman, everybody!
