The American Christian nationalist right is on the march to the UK, via Moscow Current culture wars can be traced to an alliance between the Russian Orthodox Church, the radical right and Western evangelical Christians

Thankfully Britain does not have a Bible Belt, but Reform are doing the bidding of their US paymasters anyway- get ready to see more stunts like Sarah Pochin hijacking à church this week- or Tommy Robinson’s Carol service (not even satire!)

New report a ‘stark reminder’ of impact of Brexit on Scotland, Forbes says Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes spoke out as a new report was published into the impact of European Union funding for Scotland over 50 years.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A new report setting out how Scotland received almost £8 billion of European funding, helping create some 235,000 new jobs, serves as a “stark reminder” of what the country has “lost” because of Brexit.

⬇️ Lost opportunities and greater costs.

Did the bombshell BBC memo misquote the misquote? Wording used by Michael Prescott was itself an edit of Trump’s actual words

Did the bombshell BBC memo misquote the misquote? on.ft.com/485zOMr Spoiler alert: it did. Panorama edited Trump to make him look bad. But Prescott edited Trump to make the BBC look bad.

This is how democracies fail. A sitting President is boosting calls for the arrest and execution of political opponents for urging the military to uphold the Constitution. Every alarm in the country should be going off.

What’s going on at the BBC? Is Auntie having a funny turn? This week's furore at the Beeb furthers the aims of right-wing think tanks for whom the existence of a national broadcaster is anathema

The BBC is of immense importance: don’t let the bad guys win

Johnson sets record refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva for 36 days after she won election | Arizona Mirror Speaker Johnson sets record with 36-day Adelita Grijalva swearing in delay as lawsuit claims constitutional violations

For the rest of the world, the single case of Mike Johnson refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva after her special election win, because Johnson knows her vote will tip the scales for the release of the Epstein files, is enough evidence by itself that the U.S. political system is broken and lawless.

Energy retailers to be directed to offer free power three hours a day Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

Absolutely amazing: they've got so much solar in Australia that they need more people to use more of it, so the gov't has instructed energy retailers to offer *at least three hours of free power* during the middle of the day.

Meanwhile fossil-addled US struggles with an energy-price crisis ...

Until 1997, under the leadership of Dr Alan Sked, UKIP's membership form included a clause stressing that racists were not allowed to join. Soon after Sked's departure, however, the clause mysteriously disappeared. The new leaders, Michael Holmes and Nigel Farage - who are now both MEPs - also set out to "combine our protest" with other anti-Euro campaigners. In his UKIP election leaflet this year, Holmes paid tribute to "citizens' patriotic protest groups" such as Save Our Sterling - presumably unaware that Save Our Sterling was run by the BNP.

Farage's racism was noted when he was a nobody.

But sure, he's not a racist.

'Farage, who earns his living as a City commodity-broker, is a man who often used words such as "n*gg*r" and "n*g-n*g" in the pub after committee meetings.' (Oct 1999)
