It's systemic at the studio too, for as much as the project selection under their previous (until recent) leader was so attuned to the sensibilities of critics that their shortcomings are always whitewashed. Even as a massive fan of the one director being favored rn, this is embarrassing

But it always had the material limitations of a side project while being forced to masquerade as a high-profile megahit. This was always apparent by looking at the team so this downfall, the complete aesthetic collapse & production struggle swith structural repercussions were highly predictable

Glad they made the executive choice of not stretching Takopi to one full cours. Not because that would make it a worse show (it would), nor because it would risk overusing the fundamental constrast in perceptions (it might), but rather, because sitting through 12 weeks of this would erode my soul
