Two cats snuggling together to form some sort of black, white, and grey triangle.

Feels like I should create a font face using all the awkward positions my cats snuggle in.

The worst filler word in public speaking is "right?". To me, it's even more grating than "um" or "like".

I'd forgotten how much unnecessary screaming there is in Finding Nemo.

There are probably cases where that trade-off is acceptable (like a car's safety features). However, thinking, understanding, and communicating are core skills needed today more than ever.

Each time you delegate writing to AI, your hard-earned, reflexive ability decays. It's no different than overusing a calculator for simple math or exclusively driving a car with backup cams and blind spot alerts. You _could_ have done it yourself, and eventually... you'll forget how.

A beer desert is similar to a food desert. You must travel miles away to find a brewery that didn't go all in on IPAs and sours.

Was anybody else seeing this error all day today?

An open box of 8 wings (that actually ends up being 7). Each wing is small enough to be the finger of a medium-sized basketball star. Banana for scale.

What are these? Wings for ants?

6 stacks of CDs in shrinkwrap.

CDs-to-NAS Update: Really impressed with musicshifter.com. Sent in 595 CDs. 4 were scratched too much and couldn't be converted (0.67%), 22 custom CD-Rs converted without metadata (3.6%), and the other 569 (95.6%) transferred perfectly in neat folders with metadata and album covers.

We're on our 3rd year of using it and wholeheartedly endorse it. Does really well at the tax complexity level of "I have some investments but am not some kind of mogul".

The resident cat siblings made it to their 2nd birthday. Favourite pastimes include playing fetch and stealing sausages off the breakfast table then running under the bed.

I received a FitBit for my birthday 12 years ago then lost it in the Shenandoah River two weeks later. It was a sign from the heavens to stop walking so much.

I miss the days of productive debate, where the loudest or most emotional voice did not dominate, and sides weren't just binary good or evil. BlueSky is nowhere near perfect, but it comes much closer to civilized discourse than the alternatives I've tried.

My sister was hit by a turning car while biking across this exact intersection in the early 1990s. So weird to see all of the vitriol around traffic calming in ALX recently and then see history repeat.

(Sister is old and fine now, thankfully).

Trek #11: Attacking the Darkness

Prologue

You awaken in a dark room. Every breath you take is laced with the pungent stench of mildew emanating from the wet dungeon walls. As awareness returns, you recall your quest to delve deep and recover a long-lost treasure, the fabled Eye of the Tiger.

It's been days of slaying monsters and overcoming obstacles and now you're out of supplies and patience. As you walk this way and that in search of an exit, only one thing is clear: You still haven't found what you're looking for...
