Fridayโs workshop was a joy to host. โบ๏ธ
We brought together researchers and activists to talk about LGBTQ+ criminalization, discrimination at work and in parenting, dating bias, and how the far right weaponizes LGBTQ issues.
Grateful to everyone involved and to VU's VICES for the support. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐

Following Honneth's definition of recognition as a "social act by which the positive social worth of an individual or group is affirmed or acknowledged by others," we tested whether the lack of such recognition influences support for populist radical right parties in the Netherlands.
Today I presented the second paper of my PhD dissertation at the Utrecht University Migration & Societal Change Conference. The paper is titled: "The Role of Societal and Political Misrecognition in Support for the Populist Radical Right."
๐Main finding: while inclusive narratives may not directly enhance intergroup solidarity, they can reduce support for radical-right rhetoric that prioritizes "natives first"
I am happy to share that my (first) article has been published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies (JEMS). This paper is part of my PhD dissertation. The study was co-authored by รzge Bilgili, Lieselotte Blommaert, and Marcel Lubbers.
